All from a minority but it does happen and to claim otherwise is burying your head in the sand
Yes I have heard racist chants and yes it needs to be 100% stamped out for sure so for your remark on bury my head in the sand ? your talking sh1te.
I was just interested as to what LMB said about our own fans racially abusing our own players, I’ll ask for your permission next time hey.
You asked about racist songs aimed at our players, I never said at any time there had been racist songs. I will give you one example that made me ashamed, it was a tirade of racial abuse last season against Gavin Massey when he was having a bad game from a group sat not too far from us, this group included people we know personally and they are not kids.
Sad, you should have made the stewards and Police aware of it I know I would have.
We all have to do our bit otherwise it will never end8 April 2019 at 12:11 am #177880I’m really not usually one for such things but against Norwich a second minute applause for his #2 shirt to support him personally, but also show our stand against this disgusting behaviour?

I’ll second that!
Lets do it.
8 April 2019 at 1:37 am #177882Wonderful idea, count me in
We share this life together
8 April 2019 at 11:05 am #177883Sadly it is another example of the world we live in and Im not sure what (if anything) can be done to stamp it out. People who commit violent crimes aren’t being sent to prisons so what hope do we have of sending racists?
It’s always been around of course but the more mutil cultural we have become, the more hate has been generated.
8 April 2019 at 5:41 pm #177894A 20 year old has handed himself in to the Police and was arrested then subsequently released pending an investigation.
8 April 2019 at 6:12 pm #177896Handed himself in in Blackpool. Been on the p*** all day perhaps and done it whilst drunk?*
*This is not me condoning it
8 April 2019 at 8:18 pm #177897This incident should be straight forward to prove so anything less than than prison is no deterrent.

Account has been hacked, is the ‘excuse’ surely?
9 April 2019 at 3:32 am #177902This incident should be straight forward to prove so anything less than than prison is no deterrent.Prison ?, I’m sorry but if we’re gonna bang up every person who comes out with a Twitter/social media racial slur we’ll be building more prisons than houses and hospitals combined.
This is not a football only issue so are you saying just football racial abuse or across the board from verbally to social media religion as well or are we only banging up those who target the famous (so to speak) ??.What he said is deplorable and he should be punshised in some way but I just cannot see what giving the guy a jail term will do.
Once you set president that’s it you set president both ways. The Police will be doing nothing bar social media policing. The system needs to re-educate the likes of him on racial equality and dish out community service to him.
As pointed out by stu, you will never totally iradicate it from society. You can try but it will never happen. You will always get the mindless idiots whether it be at a football match or a bus stop.
Educating future generations is the way forward not jail ffs.
Sterling was right in his remark saying you have to stand up to it not run away.
So your 1-0 down, some p1ssed up yoof yells racial abuse to a player. Fans , stewards officials whoever hear it. The players leave the park ,
Yoof wins9 April 2019 at 1:46 pm #177905There needs to be some sort of deterrent or it will get worse before it improves.
Prison is the only deterrent.9 April 2019 at 1:50 pm #177906As I said laticssince78, you don’t go to prison for violent crimes these days you aren’t going to go for sending a tweet
9 April 2019 at 2:33 pm #177908I think prison is just a bit too far but there should be some deterant. Hopefully we’ll see some kind of legal punishment but sadly I am sceptical that we will. I don’t think the infrastructure is around to punish, enforce, educate, rehabilitate or whatever at the moment.
I’ve always loved football for how it brings people together, but the last few weeks its divided many. After that sad little outburst I’m sure I’ll be proved wrong, and I hope I am by the Latics family.

Yoof wins
You are right, education and strong campaigns is the way to go but I think someone soon is going to be made a scapegoat to try to put off others.
I don’t know what the correct punishment should be, but jailing every person who comes out with something like this is impossible.
Football just needs to keep pushing its campaigns to try to eradicate this, but this particular individual wasn’t at a match and could quite easily have been abusing a black racing driver, boxer or tennis player, as it was to do with a bet that went tits up.
An example may need to be set from above, afterall, Mr Corbyn and his cronies with their anti semetic slurs, are not exactly setting a good example, and they have been getting away with it for ages now.10 April 2019 at 1:28 pm #177913There needs to be some sort of deterrent or it will get worse before it improves.
Prison is the only deterrent.Your wrong
