Not being one to join the Grammer Police but i’d like to exclaim “what the fook. any chance of that again in English ?” in response to that last post. ;)

Going by the amount of posts made by the offendant, we just have to hope that as time passes he/she may grow up a bit and learn that posting in that twaddle like language on here is unacceptable.

I did however decipher what was being said and have to agree with him/her to a certain extent. Although I think the attendance on Tuesday may be nearer the 7000 mark.

I bought tickets for my good lady and I priced at £56 then my daughter wanted to come, our tickets were for the west stand so it would have cost me £20 to take my 12 year old, ridiculous !

Does it not tell you everything two of the lowest crowds this season, relative to the size of the opposition, were Utd and Everton?

These games had two things in common, police restrictions on ticket sales and promotions, and relatively expensive tickets.

For games against the likes of Fulham, Sunderland and Blackburn we are now attracting significany more home fans than for these so called glamour games.

For example, if we had the 16k home fans that came to the FULHAM game, there would have been 20k-21k on against Everton!

When are the club going to realise they can’t take their foot off the accelerator and coast for a couple of games, maximum effort needs to be put into promoting EVERY match.

They should not be charging £28 pound for cheapest adult ticket if they want people from Wigan to start going more often

Nail on head there mate.
£28/£30 is far too much for a lot of people to pay.
I am fortunate to have a season ticket, if I didn’t, there would no way I could afford to pay £28/£30 for a run of the mill league match.
Bloody hell didnt actually realise it was that much for a one off ticket – again i have a season ticket. Thats price is pretty shocking.
That’s the problem, as season ticket holders we lose sight of the match day prices.

If I was paying on a game by game basis, there’s no way I could make every home league game, those with families have even fewer chance.

Now if it was £20 and you were entitled to a junior ticket for £1, that would make a huge difference, even if the offer was restricted to the South stand.

Having said what we have said about the prices, strangely, the busiest sections of the ground are the central most expensive bits.
The South Stand, and the wings of both the East (with the exception of ES2) and Springfield stands were virtually empty.

Like it or not a club’s attendances tend to go up or down depending on how well they are performing.
Now you can call em unloyal, jcl’s or whatever, but perhaps there were a good few people in Wigan on Saturday who’ve seen our performances lately & thought “I aint paying the best part of 30 quid of my hard earned cash to watch another limp wristed effort from the team”
Not saying its reet but as well as criticising the people of the town for not turning up the club should look inwards & think maybe the “product” they’ve been serving this season isn’t good enough for alot of people to wanna fork out that amoutn of money in the back end of a recession

#20816

Cheap family season tickets for the south stand, that would encourage family’s to buy season tickets and not have to pick and choose which games they can afford to attend!

Personally, I’ve stopped worrying about the size of our crowds, all I can do is keep turning up!

I was told it was that price for a kid int south stand aswell

#20828

£20 for a kid, you would think Madonna would be over here before long

maybe people were saving their money for the cup replay, should fill both stands then. ;)

Anything over 7000 on Tuesday will be a bonus.
I’d say anything over 5k after the Hull crowd.

And if Mr Whelan didn’t allow casual fans in for less than season ticket holders against Fulham we would have had about 12,000 on.
I can’t blame Dave Whelan wanting to maximise takings against Everton and Man Utd.It’s a sad situation if Wigan can only get 15,000 home fans in if he almost gives tickets away.
When you say maximum effort you mean letting people in for less than season ticket holders and that can’t be right for those who have paid up front.

The kind of people who came to the Fulham game were the likes of my niece and her friend.

They got in for £1 each, spent a couple of quid in the club shop, then came along to the Birmingham game, by which time my niece had saved up £5 to buy a drinks bottle from said shop.

That’s over £10 the club wouldn’t have raked in otherwise, more importantly my niece will be a new season ticket holder in 2010/11 after enjoying the games so much, she also has a list as long as my arm with Latics merchandise she wants.

These ticket deals are rarely taken up by neutrals, let’s face it most hate the club, they benefit current fans who normally cannot afford to take extra family members along.

After my wife and I paying £56 for the Everton game, if they’d let my daughter in for a quid, with a pie, couple of drinks etc they’d of at least filled an empty seat and made a few quid, more importantly the club would have taken another step to create another addict who would come and watch us, whatever the price may be, I started watching us for free and the club have certainly made a few quid from me over the years. I don’t want to be negative today as I feel as though this has been a positive window for us, I know the club have to make money but sometimes they have to look a bit further than the next few quid.
