From a different source…… The truth about why England failed at the world cup.
Courts held a further 2 week gagging order on steve gerrards private life,
turns out he got his wifes sister pregnant (not a 16 year old )
Will hit the newspaper in 14 days, the judge held the gagging order to
protect FA while they decide on capello, and the future of English footy..
John terry and the England boys all know about it and JT had a argument
with capello because Gerrard got to keep the captains armband. the tension in the camp was down to JT and half the team saying Gerrard was a disgrace and the other half of the squad backing Gerrard..The press conference was related to the tension and JT wanted Gerrard exposed – they hate each other..From lawyers, so there may be some truth in it.
However, apparently Gerrard’s wife doesnt even have a sister
If i had a pound for every time Gerrard was rumoured to have had an affair, id be richer than the man himself.
i fear i will never see england win a major tournament .untill there is a complete reform of the english game the national side will never compete. the domestic game is too powerfull
it needs something like what the ECB did , removing the cream of english cricket from the control of the counties , taking complete control of what the top 1% do , when they play , train , rest etc
this will never happen though due to the obscene amounts of money sloshing around in the PL .
it is slowly killing football
take rooneys reaction to the fans , that just proved how far detached a little runt like him has become from the average fans
There’s so much that needs looking at it probably isnt worth going into it all. Money is the main issue, as it is with the majority of problems in football.
Im not sure whether its entirely possible to take cricket’s approach as the game works differently there. Im a fan of not necessarily putting a limit on foreigners, but id like to see a minimum of 3 English players in every starting 11. Although going back to the money issue, i doubt any Premier League clubs would agree. I also think wasting 6 million on a manager is a disgrace when even half of that could be put into youth development.
Video technology is something I’d agree with, but only to see if the ball crossed the line, as football is not as stop-start as rugby or cricket.
Whatever happened to the chip in the ball technology. I agree that any technology, new or taken from other sports, should only be used to decide if a goal really is a goal or not. With the amount of stoppages in football nowadays it wouldn’t disrupt the game too much.
put a electronic chip in the ball so when it crosses the goal line it beeps in the linesman or refs ear, they are already wearing headsets so the game wouldnt have to stop at all
The technology is there. A system has been developed to alert the officials in no more time than it takes for the linesman to raise his flag for a decision for example. FIFA simply don’t want to bring technology into the game.
As for that under 21’s team, i don’t think its loaded with talent really. The England under 17’s have just won the Euro’s only a few weeks ago, that’s what we should be paying close attention to, enhancing their development.
The three form players at the end of last season were Joe Hart, Michael Dawson and Adam Johnson yet none of them got so much as a kick for England at this World Cup.I can’t see any of them having made a major difference. A kick up the backside and a shake up of players is probably what we need now especially with so much of our team over or approaching 30.
the role of the manager at international level is overhyped. You can be the best coach in the world, but you need the players on your side and i haven’t seen that in the past few weeks with England whether its down to team selection, team line up announcements or the strict rules they were under at the hotel.
Compare it to the Argies who don’t have the best manager, but he motivates & inspires his team.
Id much rather see us spend at least half of Fabio’s 6 million on youth development.
With our so called world class superstar having scored 0 goals and has 0 assists in six appearances (433 mins) at the world cup and having now gone more than 10 hours without a goal for England…. and the Premiership’s best goalscoring midfielder having had the 2nd most amount of shots without scoring in the World Cup ever, i don’t think anyone knows what to do with that team.
Wright Phillips and Lennon in the same team? I can count on one hand the number of wingers who have made an effect during this world cup.

I think there quite good, for Wigan anyway. ;)
…both posted in the ‘Fantasy Kit Design’ section
I went to watch Barcelona play Zaragoza at the Nou Camp, 6 – 1 to Barca Real Z were dire believe me they reminded me of us in defence‘a real test’ – considering we are in the ‘best league’ in the world I consider it a similar fixture to lets say Wigan v Hull or Portsmouth
a real test ?
Well we failed to beat both Hull and Pompey so its a test we could use.
Whereas at home we know how to beat teams on a par with Arsenal, Chelsea & Liverpool.
:P
Lineker, Beardsley, Platt, Shearer, Merson, Owen, Hargreaves
Isn’t that what is said about us? Almost the exact same phrases. But they had under Revie a great ambition. And they became “a big name”. Keep the faith.
It was possible back in those days though.
These days, unless you have a filthy rich owner its almost impossible.
Also, Leeds always had the potential due to being a city, having a large population and not many major clubs on their doorstep.
Because we are better than them basically, Look closely at the squads, personnel and ages etcYes but its not about individuals is it?
England’s biggest downfall has always been playing well as a team.
Aye, it also means that he’ll probably play two up front so my World Cup 11 (with Gerrard in the ‘hole’) that I posted on another thread is done for.
I wouldn’t rule it out, 4-4-1-1 with Lennon, Lampard, Barry and J Cole then Gerrard then Rooney ahead of them is a definite possibility.
I hope he plays Heskey personally, but ive not a clue what he’ll do.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion sure, but at the end of the day Fabio knows far more than any of us therefore everyone on here is wrong
Aye, but it’s still alreet to have an opinion on Capello’s squad, hence why these type of forums are popular in the first place.
Capello might know more than the rest of us but it’s still OK to disagree with or debate his decisions. In particular, his decision to take SWP over Johnson, which I, (along with quite a few others I would summise) can’t get my head round.
I know, like many others im suprised SWP was chosen over Adam Johnson considering the latter took SWP’s place in the City team only 2 months ago.
I reckon his thinking will be that Gerrard is first choice on the left, based off his selections in previous internationals and J Cole will be backup. Whilst Lennon, SWP will compete for the right with Milner able to fill in on either wing aswell. Therefore AJ would have only been 3rd choice really and wasn’t really needed for that reason. Perhaps :D
