McKay has been in cracking form since going out on loan but I think he’s enjoying his time across the border, can’t see him wanting to come back to sit on the bench. Would love to keep hold of Warnock and McAleny but not getting my hopes up too much, suppose it depends on the new manager at Everton for McAleny!

Falstaff is only useful on cold days because the pints warm your hands up! I was in the ship the on Friday, it’s a clever pub because you have to get drunk to be able to stand it. Clever marketing technique. Sandgrounder does have that big screen that you can never quite see all of. They had an even bigger one in the Albert but it was predictably “robbed” just before the landlord packed up and left.

There’s a decent pub in town called the sandgrounder actually, the other 10 pubs in Southport are genuinely depressing places to be in. I’m 3 minute walk from the stadium so I might have to drink with all the Southport fans unless I go well out my way.

Can’t promise any sun though, Sunny Southport is a nickname used with tongue firmly in cheek.

Just ended up doin about a top 13 and it got deleted somehow! I’ll just mention the ones nobody has said that I thought would be up there. Charles N’Zogbia twice. Last minute rocket off the post against Arsenal. 3-2 from 2-0 down. Then again against West Ham in even more unbelievable circumstances and mainly (pretty much entirely) thanks to Rob Green’s absolute howler. 3-2 from 2-0 again.

The awful day at Cardiff was still an achievement, despite losing 4-0 and paying over the odds for hot dogs.

Unsworth v Sheffield United, I’m still nervous about that now.

My first memory of Latics in 1993 against Chester. Won 6-3 and the game’s on Youtube somewhere.

Also 2 days in May. One 10 years ago this year ensuring Wigan Athletic were a Premier League side and sealing the Duke’s place in the Wigan hall of fame (if it was ever in doubt), one 2 years ago meaning we had our name on the most illustrious trophy in club football, also meaning we need to make an even better hall of fame just for Ben Watson.

Christ, even losing to Chelsea in our first game was something to be proud of, only an absolute wonder goal did us in and we more than held our own.

That’s about 8, I can think of hundreds more. The main ones have been mentioned I think.

Nothing confirmed as of yet, I’d imagine there’d at least be a Dev. Squad game though. Southport’s not a far trip mind, 30 minutes on the train, dead easy to get to the ground too.
