Don’t have to be in order but mine are.
1 The moment Bens header touched the back of the net. Heart stopping, overwhelming and most emotional and happy moment that I can ever remember.
2 The moment Duke sealed promotion to the Premier League. Jus amazing scenes. Only blemished by the stubbornness of the powers that b e in not allowing Latics fans in the West Stand.
3 John Rogers equaliser at Wembley in the FA Trophy final.
4 The night we beat Mansfield to clinch our first promotion under Whelan. Remember the Pop Side bouncing although no where near full again due to crazy restrictions put on us by the powers that be.
5 Paul Rogers winner for Latics at Wembley against Millwall. We knew it was just too late for the Bermondsey Bollocks to reply.
4 June 2015 at 1:05 pm #142677Good choices.
I’d agree 1,2, 4 and 5, but I’d have Neil Roberts’ goal against Man City in the League Cup. The first time we took City’s big-name scalp.
I know you asked for 5 but number 6, just missing out, would be finally beating Man United.
/By the way – for the Reading game I think you mean East Stand/
4 June 2015 at 2:19 pm #142678I’ve only been with you for 7 years, so it’s all prem stuff.
1. Yup the cup final DAY. That nano second of silent disbelief when it went in!
2. The final whistle at the Etihad, and with in that Boyceeees block
3. 4 up at half time against NUFC
4. Listening to the Everton game on the radio in the car and nearly crashing with disbelief.
5. More a series of great moments – meeting and having good fun with the crowd I have a match day fun friendship with in the area in which I sit, along with my now good friend ‘the doctor’, all starting off with a good win at Blackpool. 5a. Being in with the home fans, 2 rows away from the away fans at Stoke when Hugo scored for us to stay up. How I survived that torment from you lot I don’t know. 5b. Figs goal at Stoke.4 June 2015 at 11:59 pm #142679Bloody Nora only 5, I’ll go with what has not already been mentioned in no particular order
Beating Brentford for our first walk up the Wembley steps as winners.
Tommy Gore’s winner at Stamford Bridge in the F A Cup
Peter Houghton’s screamer against Villa in the League Cup
June 2nd 1978. In at last
Beating Stafford Rangers at Ice Station Zebra in the FA Trophy semi-final to secure our first visit to the Mecca of football
Would’nt like to list every one I’ve had as a Latics Fan

5 June 2015 at 3:11 am #142687Football matters aside:
Climbing out of the ground at a foggy Northwich in the cup; going for a run up town, then climbing back into the game ( can’t remember the result ).
Colin, aka Dad of Horc, wrestling with one of the Millwall F troop on the pop side.
Martin H, aka baby brother of Horc, getting jumped by the Border Carlisle Firm.
Port Vale pepper boys wanting to fight big Mark.
Andy Lee getting a bit of pulled pork in the back of Donny’s estate car on the way back from Barrow in the F.A Cup.
Horc ripping into the steward at the DW, explaining that it’s a f-king football match and we are supposed to show some passion !
Being able to sing – get yer tits out for the lads.
Donny’s bollocks popping out for a bit of fresh air at Exeter City ( where are they now ? Exeter; not Donny’s bollocks )
Plod making us remove our Doc Martins before the Stafford game, and getting a raffle ticket to collect them after the game.
Me & Horc in’t Toon; debating whether to watch the free lesbian show or go to the game ( mind you, they were gorgeous ).
So many great footballing and social memories that can never be repeated. And yes, I have enjoyed it all !
5 June 2015 at 3:22 am #142688That’s why I put the Torquay weekend on the game was rubbish it rained all day but the weekend was brilliant wigan took over Torquay for a couple of days.
