Swansea and Norwich for sure plus one from Wolves, West Brom, or Blackburn
As for the title, I think it’s probably United with City and Chelsea pushing for second spot
I think that one reason that we have managed to survive is that we don’t just sign marquee players just because we can. :teasing-blah: It’s pointless moaning until we’ve a) seen who is with us by the end of the day b) seen Crusat and Maloney in action
I’m up in Scotland and talking to one or two Celtic fans who really rate Maloney. We might still end up with Dos Santos (gone quiet on that one) and Beausejour yet as well. If we do then we would most certainly have a stronger squad then we have ever had. Having said all that, I wish we had QPR’s money (but not their awful away strip!!)
Franco is going to be a star by the way! Anyway here’s my tuppence worth on the centre back issue.
Despite the good goals against stats, there was something dreadfully wrong against QPR on Saturday. Time after time there seemed to be acres of space for QPR in the middle of the pitch especially just outside of the box. On the subject of Figs needing coaching etc. I personally thought he had a poor game against QPR giving the ball away too many times in stupid situations. Rant over ! :angry-banghead:“Electric pace” ” crowd on their feet” Sounds a good un to me!!
“very skillful but rather selfish!” so a couple of City fans tell me.
I would like Martinez to be true to his word at the very start of the transfer window and bring in a couple of “big loan signings” At least to prove that we CAN attract a big name. I would love to see SWP at the club but it seemed to all get suddenly very quiet after Whelan said it all depended how much the lad wanted?! The only hope is that he wants to stay around Manchester and the Bolton attempt falls through. Is Rodallega the sort of striker who worries defences?? I’m still not sure if he’s got enough goals in him but I guess everyone will say he needs better service. Anyway SWP and another striker – perhaps this bloke from Bristol would fit the bill. He’s got to be half decent for the money being talked about??
The positive so far is without doubt a much tighter defence than this time last season (and unbeaten)with a clear need for experienced midfield creativity and the obvious “proven goalscorer”
I don’t think Swansea’s first ever home Premiership fixture was ever going to be “easy” but we could have won both games if it wasn’t for the woodwork – so nothing too alarming yet.
Admittedly it is very quiet on the transfer front, but has anything happened to make anyone believe that we will not bring in a couple of new faces (possible on loan?) I would put good money on it that there are a couple of half decent signings to come. The club is viable – and it doesn’t HAVE to be in the Premiership to survive . -
