Mutty, considering Sunderland is a purely football town, and has been for over a century, neither the Sunderland nor England team are swamped with Mackem lads are they….
Michael Gray, Grant Leadbitter & Jordan Henderson spring to mind. Oh, and Martyn Waghorn, and the Howie brothers.
I mean, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City are full of homegrown lads who have come up through the ranks aren’t they? ….You mean like John Terry and Ashley/Carlton Cole? I note you exclude West Ham from your list of London clubs. Could that be because of the Ferdinand brothers, Joe Cole, Lampard etc etc.
Wigan is not a rugby town, and it never has been. It’s a football town, like every other town and city in the UK, and Europe. So why has it produced sportsmen of the highest calibre in many sports, but not in football?
He answered your question you buffoon. football as not been promoted in Wigan schools like rugby and other sports have down the years

I have registered several times to the official site and for some strange reason I can never log in so I gave up ages ago ! So just to reiterate, if I have not received a pack and my place has gone when I get back….fcuk em !why no renewal stuff as been sent out to current season ticket holders is very strange as they have all ways arrived by now as they have in past seasons. is it a cost cutting thing from uncle jack?
are you licking your lips in anticipation for Germany’s 1st game phil
is that straight up yes? that a advert came on, while the 1st half was on, on itv hd. that is outrageous, its not formula 1 racing were that happened in the races ,it’s a football match ?
that old saying BUTTER FINGERS came in to my mind straight away ;)
my point been is that he never posted that?.there was another thread called willys were he said he wanted to give a bj. when I posted and said that I think he? James’s account had been hacked it mysteriously vanished. now it’s either somebody as his password or the mods on here are over stepping the mark?. if they are it is bang out of order,. personally myself if some one was posting messages under my name I would be incensed. i do not know what is going on but it is highly suspicious?
I deleted the thread for obvious reasons? And i sent a pm to James to warn him his account had been hacked! If you don’t believe me get another mod to check this for you! maybe james used someone elses computer and forgot to log off or maybe he,s had more vino than usual ;)
well i don’t know landgate but I can tell it’s not him who posted that. I think your right in the fact that he probably logged on some else’s computer and a key logger was installed etc.. etc..
I see seven Wigan players played at U18 level France on Wednesday and by all accounts did their country and town proud in their 40 points to 16 victory
Three Wigan players will play tomorrow v France all from the famous Wigan St. Pats amateur club.
I can’t help but notice the lack of Wigan born players in the fussball World Cup.
And don’t argue about viewing figures, Britains got talent attracted millions of viewers, it doesn’t mean that what’s on view is good. You really are not very bright are you? A billion people will watch the World Cup, but you say the viewing figure doesn’t mean it is good. I think a billion people may disagree with you on that point, for, if a billion people did not find it good, surely they would not watch it. Do you not realise that it is all down to your own personal preference, and that is why your personal preference is to watch the global sport that is Rugby League and not the minority sport of football?
Yes, there are many Wigan players who play international Rugby League, but considering the muddy well that Rugby League players are drawn from is so shallow, that’s hardly surprising is it? Others have already tried to highlight this on this particular thread, but you don’t understand it do you?
During formal education in Wigan (I presume you went to a school of some sort), football was not encouraged at most schools. Rugby League, athletics, swimming, smoking in toilets etc were, but not football. How do you expect kids to take up football if you don’t encourage it at that level? I played for both the rugby and football teams at school, but if games clashed, I was made fully aware of which choice was the correct one.
The Cheech to your Chong (aka Mutty) harps on about Wigan born players not playing for the club, or for England. Mutty, considering Sunderland is a purely football town, and has been for over a century, neither the Sunderland nor England team are swamped with Mackem lads are they? Wigan is a developing nation in the world of football having only entered the league in 1978 – in case you hadn’t noticed, and it will come ( at least a Wigan born player playing for the first team). If the team was full of Wigan lads, would they be in Premier League? I mean, the likes for Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City are full of homegrown lads who have come up through the ranks. There are lots of large towns in the UK where they have never had a player represent England, and in a lot of cases, have never had a team in the top tiers of football, let alone a local born player to play for them in those leagues.
Wigan is changing whether you like it or not. I personally quite like watching Rugby League. I also played it into my early twenties, and it is not a bad sport in general. It is, however, not football, and anti-football half-wits like you are the reason why it gets a bad name. I know some of the admin from the RL site that you post on, and they also like football. So, why do you refer to it as ‘fussball’? Is it an inferiority thing? Were you the fat lad at school, who had no coordination, and who was always last to be picked, or are you actually a German RL fan?
Wigan is not a rugby town, and it never has been. It’s a football town, like every other town and city in the UK, and Europe. A high proportion of people in Wigan have a favourite football team, and they will watch a football game if it on TV. The percentage of football fans in the town who also follow Rugby League is considerably less – otherwise your JJB stores (etc) would have a tiny football shirt section, and a larger section featuring a replica shirt from every Super League team.
If you want genuine football banter, please keep posting on this site. If you intend coming on here and posting anti-football rubbish, when football fans are immediately banned from your sites if they try to respond, you can go and sit in the ‘Sin Bin’ for a while, or I’d be happy to propose you get sent off for ‘flopping’ on your mates.
well said there Standish, you put it better then I could.when I posted before I was probably not getting my point over but the beers I have consumed tonight have a lot to do with that ;)
my point been is that he never posted that?.there was another thread called willys were he said he wanted to give griff a bj. when I posted and said that I think he? James’s account had been hacked it mysteriously vanished. now it’s either somebody as his password or the mods on here are over stepping the mark?. if they are it is bang out of order,. personally myself if some one was posting messages under my name I would be incensed. i do not know what is going on but it is highly suspicious?
w@nk staines muppets hacking accounts?. what is going on here?. unless ? there is something i am missing here?. if James really posted that then I am a avid Wigan rugby fan :?
why rouge because football is the all of the country were as rl is yorkshire and lancashire. i all ways remember the captain of englands football under 17’s who died tragically in a road accident he was born in wigan. so he played for england were as it really does not take that much to be picked for england rl youth team.as for wi fat you sad lurker at least when i started watching the latics they was not a big team. it takes a little man to support a big club but takes a big man to follow a small team.the arrogant rubbish we had to put up with from you lot back in the day grated a lot but now the wheel as turned.
Do they play foosbal in America, they really don’t care about it.
When did a Wigan born player last play for England at foosball?
I know Peggy Melling, but she was from Billinge. How come we can produce Rugby players (both codes) athletes and swimmers or do they just swim up the Leeds Liverpool canal or run along the A58?
bump.
Emile heskey played for England as a latics player .so before you come out with rubbish like that at least know what your on about or your going to make your self look rather silly old chap
Was he born in Scholes???
i will hold my hand up and say i briefly glanced at your post and thought you was saying when was the last time a latics player played for England. the point is, is that there is not a massive pool of players to pick from in rugby league.
Now we are discussing sensibly like adults and not children. Of course there is more chance of a kid making the England set up at RL because Wigan produce so many young players. However they also produce more than any other comparable RL playing area.
Wigan have produced RL, RU, swimmers and athletes. Why not footballers, which was my question.
We should not be knocking our town for producing excellence (in whatever sporting field) we should be proud of them.
Would you not agree?
i am not knocking them but it really does not take much to be picked when there is not a lot to pick from.
