Not forgetting the signings……
Norburn, Blackpool- Loan
Mellish, Carlisle- Undisclosed fee
Darcy, Crawley- Undisclosed fee
And of course Dale, Oxford- Loan
If they can’t get into their respective teams what the fuck are they doing here?
Norburn hes a liability, he offers nothing more than a good few yellows & reds.
Mellish I actually have to give the guy some credit, what he lacks in ability he makes up for in effort.
At least he has had a go at trying to get forward making runs with the ball at feet something alot of our players are sh*t scared of doing bar J.Smith. They don’t always come off but at least the guy has a go so credit were it’s due.
Darcy ? the Jury’s out for now on this guy but so far he seems like he has limited ability, tries hard but that’s it. Footballs all about levels and I hope he improves.
I can only imagine that when certain players come back and we up the squad he’ll be thrown out on loan as per usual.Dale ? Can’t tackle, lives in fear of the bogey man i.e. scary defenders, offers nothing and personally he should be sub till the season ends and then sent back. If we sign him then it’s because he’s cheap or free on low wages.
We’ve been unlucky on the injury front especially with Chambers and M.Smith plus others but we’re no different from dozens of other sides.
Anyway, the new managers in and he has a few weeks to assess the squad and weigh up what he’s got to work with then it’s up to him to grab a couple of wins to get us over the line and see the season out.
After that it’s anyone’s guess as to the direction the owner wants us to go in.
Either,
Invest and back the manager
Or
Hope the manager can bring in cheap n loans better than Maloney didWhen I previously said:-
“This season we should be pushing for a top 6 now that we have a cleared decks”.
I meant this season coming the 25-26 season not 24-25,
I just wanted to clarify that one up, the timescale2 years to sort the club then year 3 push on up the table
Tbh I honestly wouldn’t waste my time watching it I’ve better things to do. In the summer Danson will have been in charge for two years and the progress we’ve made is, we’ve basically got rid of anyone who’s any good and slashed the wage bill abit like getting rid of all the tradesmen then let the apprentices run the show.
This season we should be pushing for a top 6 now that we have a cleared decks. The club will have £7million from the selling of four players (and no doubt Tickle money) not to forget any money from Robinson when he leaves Fulham and a new manager who needs to build a side.
If the manager is not backed and we don’t invest in the squad then I’m afraid the season after next I’ll simply pick and choose my games.
If the owner shows willing then so will the fans it’s as simple as that. How long can he say “Well I’m taking back money it owed me at the takeover that first 12 months”
He knew the script when buying the club, he didn’t go in blind so for me next season he has to show willing that’s football.
No more were building for the future all’s I see is going through the motions. Firstly try getting some ground staff in sort that pitch out, it looks fookin well.
Those sides who don’t invest at some point always suffer the consequence. Even back in the day we bought Barlow for £50k and that was when we had very little but that one player turned it around for us.
I always said from the start 2025-2026 should be when our house is straight and no more excuses. We’ve sides surpassing us sides that in our day they couldn’t lace our boots.
For me we should be in the Championship middle but to achieve that Lowe needs to be able to bring in one or two and I don’t mean loans from Oxford. Seriously, if they were any good would Oxford be loaning them ?, head wobble & get a grip.So less loans, a few experienced players, get that midfield forged and minimum 2 forwards and let’s see more of Cze
Just on the subject of the final and supporter’s, I read a few articles before the game about the free scarfs on each seat for the Newcastle fans basically Liverpool fans calling it cheesy etc.
What I saw from the Newcastle fans just before the kick off was a sea of black & white scarfs which I’m sure inspired those players.
I then looked at the Liverpool fans then read a comment by one of their own fans after the game saying that we looked more like Chelsea were the majority of Liverpool fans wore no colours in drab black clothing.
Liverpool are slowly going like the rest of the big clubs. Love them or not, you gotta give Newcastle credit, at least the majority of the town support their own club but I must admit they are rare with only the one club in such a big city
Here is a letter written from Dan Burns Dad to his son:-
Dear Dan,
When I walked up Wembley Way with you, a mere seven-year-old, on my shoulders en route to the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea in 2000, who could have predicted that the next time Newcastle would be fighting for a cup there, I’d be in the stands, watching my son in those gorgeous black-and-white stripes?
It was only ever going to be this club for you.
After all, you and Jack, your brother, drew teams out of a hat to decide which matches the pair of you would go to with our East Stand season ticket. Tyne-Wear derbies, top-of-the-table clashes and Champions League nights – you saw it all under Sir Bobby Robson.
For your own football journey, first there was Blyth Town – I’m still puzzled you decided to be a keeper and then Spartans. A left-back to begin with- I suppose you’ve come full circle! – then a centre-half, you won everything going.
Those two years as a junior at Newcastle’s Centre of Excellence coincided with a growth spurt, when you struggled to adapt to your changing body. That letter on Christmas Eve, releasing you as a 14-year-old, was gut-wrenching.
But it never held you back. You made sure you made it.
You pushed trollies at Asda and grafted in non-League with Darlington before Everton and Fulham came calling. For your medical, I told you to “look the part”. In hindsight, perhaps wearing suits might not have been the best idea, seeing as you had to undress about 15 times. Then there was Yeovil – remember son, you’ve already won, and scored, at Wembley – Birmingham and Wigan.
Away from football, you married your childhood sweetheart, Roz, and started a beautiful family, only to move about as far away as possible to Brighton!
When the takeover happened, you told me: “That’s that, Dad. They’re never going to sign Brighton’s Dan Burn.” Then the speculation started and it was unbearable because I so wanted it to be true.
That night you came back, when I was stood alongside you in the boardroom, it moved me to tears. Your debut against Aston Villa topped it. Captaining (briefly) against Brentford was another level still.
That’s before we think about the quarter-final… I was so proud I can barely put it into words.
I still can’t believe I wasn’t there, instead, I was watching from a bar in Spain, but it doesn’t diminish it one bit. Seeing you slalom in from the left and caress the ball in with your right foot, at the Gallowgate End, with a finish Alan Shearer would be proud of – I’ve watched it hundreds of times since and I still can’t quite believe it. That was just so special.
Newcastle brought you home and you bloody deserved that chance. You are still the very same lad; the best father, husband, brother and son we could all wish for. Nothing has changed you. You’re still Dan from Blyth, with the same mates who have followed you all the way and everyone can see that.
Your resilience, your perseverance, should be an inspiration to every young kid in the north east.
You are no Peter Beardsley, but you proved that sheer determination and hard work can take you far. As our fellow fans sing, “You’ll never, ever beat Dan Burn.”
You are living the dream of so many and you understand that responsibility.
Sat on my shoulders 23 years ago, you were excited and euphoric walking up Wembley Way. This time it’s my turn. In the stands, I’ll be donning your match-worn shirt from the quarter-final, the one you saved especially for me. I’m welling up just thinking about the moment you run out…
That will be my lad, my Dan, on the world stage, showing who he is: a great footballer and an even better bloke.
I wish I could bottle up this feeling I have because it would make me millions if I sold it. I’m so immensely proud of you son.
Love Dad
The J.Smith scenario of “Can’t do a full game” is beyond me, why the fcuk is he always rested ??.
Cze is a huge positive, he set up Taylor with a glorious ball only to watch him drag it wide then when Cze picked up the lose ball to score Taylor was waving his arms in the middle.
That just shows you the confidence in Cze has to take it on from a tightish angle. So the big burning question is, why did Maloney leave Cze out with the washing especially when we’ve absolutely nothing up front ?.
As soon as Maloney left G.Whelan brought him straight into the squad so I’m not having issues etc, did he cross Maloney’s path at some point and was frozen out ?. I did hear that that Maloney would dummy spit on a personal level if you p*ssed him off.
For me the middle of the park stinks like sh*t there’s little for any forward to get excited about.
The sooner M.Smith and Francois are back from injury the better.
And Lowe needs to sit down with Cze and make it clear if he’s in his plans as he’s only a year left along with M.Smith who I think will leave in the summer a little dicky bird rumour is he wants to go nearer to back home EssexHe looks and sounds honest enough, speaks well in front of the camera and no doubt the players which is a positive thing. Players pick up on that just like in any walk of life, those who come across well get the most out their troops so to speak.
That was one thing Maloney was very poor at, interviews. His twitching, his nervousness the dry lips it all looked very uncomfortable. Now I’m not saying he was like that in front of the players but I can’t imagine he’d have been any different.
Nice guy yeah but sometimes it comes down to at the end of the day to man pure utter management skills and how you put yourself across.
I’m sure Lowe will want Wigan with a Birmingham budget but that just isn’t going to happen.
His job at the end of the day will be to motivate and bring out the best in lesser quality players and bond them as a team, just like the vast majority of lower league managers with little to spend. If he comes across the same to the players as he does in his interviews, is backed financially by Danson and is given time then I’m sure we’ll do well as a club.
As the saying goes:-
“The King is dead, Long live the King !”
It was a shame Maloney didn’t get the backing but at the end of the day for me based purely on management skills, na not for me
Good appointment, I think Latics were going to hang on then they thought we don’t wanna miss the boat on this one.
Let’s hope his first appointment is a groundsman
Bloody hell well they need sort it asap because it doesn’t look good
I’ve said it a 1000 times, Taylor isn’t a forward, if he was we’d have been 2 up Saturday. He works hard and creates space but he’s roll is to link up reminds me of liddle in a way.
Cze’s missed an awful lot of football so he’ll be playing catch up with the first team
I remember him linking up well with Stones in some p*ss arse trophy game and the thing is, he’s at that age like Lang and Aasgaard did were he’ll start filling out and becoming stronger on off the ball.
Me?, I’d Def get him in and link him with Taylor just behind him. But wtf do I know
I honestly don’t see the point in rushing the process. Normally a manager is sacked and new one appointed to come in and “Save The Day” and tbh were pretty much safe bar a disaster.
Were 10 points clear of 21st place and a game in hand and 13 points clear of 22nd place.I get the last 2 performances weren’t very good but that’s not G.Whelan’s fault that’s the squad he’s inherited. He has limited choices and quality to choose from so he can blame his tools.
What fookin annoyed me was I heard one guy say quite loud in the stadium:-
“Wtf is he coming on for ? he fookin sh*te (Cze)!!”.
I never heard a bad remark about Taylor after he missed 2 absolute sitters but to target the lad a lad we’ve hardly seen.Cze’s a young lad who needs games. I heard he’s had 1 or 2 off the field issues and the lad needs games and his confidence back not remarks like that.
Cze was banished by Maloney for whatever reason so it was good to see the lad back.
As for a new manager?,
Whoever gets it needs money there has to be funds made available. The squad isn’t good enough. I spoke to a friend who’s a life long Preston fan and he said about Ryan Lowe:-“He’s a very good manager but get ready for some slow boring build up always played out from the back football”.
And I thought, were have a seen that before?
Déjà vuI heard he was visiting the rugby to have a chat with Matt Peet regarding sports phycology motivation all that melarky
The King is dead, long live the King!!
For me Danson and Maloney were both to blame.
Danson for lack of financial support to Maloney even after we’d sold £7million pounds worth of playersAnd
Maloney for the style of play that at times made you turn your head like an Alsatian or fall asleep.
One of them simply had to go and we all know the winner of that one.
It’s sad but it’s the nature of the beast and we thank him and move on.
Let’s get this season out the way and remain in L1 and hopefully Dansons crew find the right guy.
For me I’d have Paul Warne, he just has that experience edge over Lowe but we’ll see
The thing is with a new manager he won’t have a major challenge on his hands other than win a couple of games that’s it.
Were not fighting on any front so a couple of win-draws should see us stay up. How we do it right now I don’t care.Any new manager will have to personally assess what he’s got player wise then set his stall out only to find out a huge chunk of the players won’t be here next season and he’ll have to start all over again.
Personally I think appointing a new guy right now won’t help us, we need to clear the decks first.
This squad lacks, it lacks in quality, depth, and players who will eventually play at a higher level.
Most of the players we currently have are at their maximum which is L1 level. Let’s get behind Glenn Whelan, he’s been lobbed into the lions den and based on his Mansfield post match interview he wasn’t ready for that.
I just hope and pray A.Robinson moves to Liverpool in the summer and we land a nest egg. Danson has to give the majority of that to whoever’s in charge to bring in 4-5 good quality players.
If he pockets it then we know were we stand in the pecking or when it comes to spending.
