I am a keen train spotter !
310 and 311 are missing and so the thread is finished ! But just in case it isn’t !
PS- I forgot how to do it as well ! :)
There is a Belgian player called Mark de Man !
Winston White (ex-Latics)PS. not intended to be racist (just ‘amusing’)
Well I read it as Rinsed and white B)
Wayne Wanklyn. He actually played at Springfield Park in a midweek game in the late 70s. I thought it was against Torquay but after googling him, it looks like it was Reading. He came (ooer) on as a sub and his name was announced over the loudspeakers and I remember puzzled ‘did I hear that right?’ type looks from the crowd
Did he do any shooting or did he just do a bit of dribbling ! :cheer:
Well I was going to pick him up on that,as I was looking for misconceptions that we come across on our own from time to time or ones that have been lodged in the old grey matter for eons !
Just when I mentioned on another thread that he needs to keep his mouth shut !
The next level will always be the toughest to achieve umless you do the portsmouth theory and we all know what went on thereExactly and so Uncle Dave should not be dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the faces of new and prospective fans, by coming out with what are quite clearly his own little pipe dreams !
Swings and roundabouts though, some of the fees we’ve brought in are remarkable, palacios, Valencia, Moses, n’zogbia, all good mark ups, good business overall I think, to be breaking about even in this league is some achievement, and I applaud them for it, I’ve been one to advocate some marquee signings in the past, I think that’s what it would take to kick on to the next level, but it’s a massive gamble and has so many hurdles, I don’t think I would risk it if it were my money, and that’s assuming players would come to Wigan regardless of how much we offered them!Hence my recent comments re ambition and risk it for a biscuit ! If Uncle Dave wants to talk about the next level, then he should put his money where his mouth is or just sit down and keep his pipe dreams to himself because I’m afraid you need to put some serious money into obtaining success in this league !
Very often find exactly the same words in match reports across a spread of papers. Quite often they use agency reports.
Very clever ;)
The Daily Mirror’s Monday report of this game was done by James Reynolds and was very detailed, like he was actually there but….he managed to come up with the same ratings as the other two papers mentioned and he had the crowd as 47,342  The Sun was Ian Gordon, btw, don’t know who was credited by the Mail.
Go on, explain that then or are you saying that newspapers sometimes tell white lies?
Newspapers lie ! NEVER ! :)
Apart from the six odd million spent on boselli, the couple of stand out purchases for me are 5.3 million for koumas, and 5 million for marlon king! Jesus Christ what were we thinking? There is no way on Earth that Ramis is worth the money we paid for him either ! B)
That would be the case for the whole team selection then so I hope you don’t come on here calling anyone or suggesting such a person deserves a chance !
I don’t see how it prevents me thinking any particular player is garbage. I can not rate a certain player but accept that a manager feels he is the best in the squad to play that particular position – the 2 aren’t mutually exclusive.
Part of me has been wanting to see Callum McManaman given a go at this level but I’m more than prepared to accept that if he doesn’t select him then Bobby doesn’t think he’s ready (or good enough) yet. Likewise I think Ronnie Stam is ideally suited to the wing back role but Bobby feels from seeing them in trainign every day that Boyce is the better option so fair enough
So the same applies to players I rate as well as players i don’t such as Boselli
You should just reply to each and every disgruntled fan who moans about a particular player ” The manager knows what he is doing so shut up ! ” ;) Personally I see a certain clique forming selection-wise ! ;)
Microwave ovens don’t cook food from the inside outwards !
The clue probably was the sale of Moses and Sammon conbined sales of £10 millionI thought Sammon went for about 125 grand ? Anyhow, the point I am making is, if you wanna talk the talk then you gotta walk the walk !
Roughly a £2mill profit based on buying and selling from what I can see ! No biscuits there then !
Edit- Just checked properly and it is £1.75mill profit since joining Prem if those figures are correct !
That’s only £750,000 profit if you believe Roberto’s story that Whelan used £1m of his own money to help but Ramis.
Well who stumped up the rest then !!
