the worse thing is being preached to by a ‘stone island’ clad CREW/LAD/HOOLIGAN (take your pick which),especially one who is a feature writer for the elitist muddhutter magazine

I’m offended, I’ve not bought any Stone Island since ’94 and probably gave what gear I had to the jumble sale ten years ago

As I am the author of that piece, please provide evidence that I am a hooligan (perhaps details of my criminal record, history of banning order or maybe even some pictures of me in ‘action’).

Or maybe just save yourself the bother as you won’t find any and as others have pointed out on this thread you are a LIAR and any decent sort of human being would perhaps be grown up enough to apologise at this point especially as many people on this thread have verified that it isn’t true.

Also, you mention the word elitist, have you ever read the fanzine or website? Every single issue I send out a plea for people to contribute, no matter what their views or background, and it’s very rare that anything doesn’t get printed. It is a completely open offer to anyone – does this fit the description of elitist or are you lying about me again?

I’ve highlighted a few words above in bold, please try and ascertain who they fit in line with the description ‘elitist’

that has spent its whole existance berating brenda spencer, john benson or dave whelan while at the same time worshipping FC United fans who did exactly what that buffoon is up in arms about wigan fans doing now,and walk away from THEIR club.

Ooh a debate on ownership of football clubs and their finances, I’m in mr loudmouth!!

First of all, you appear to be confused? Are you comparing Wigan Athletic with FC United? Or as it would appear more logical are you are comparing Wigan Athletic with Manchester United? Do you have even the faintest idea why FC United were formed?

Let’s concentrate on the four key football finance areas of ownership debt, operating profits/losses, servicing interest payments & ticket pricing

Wigan Athletic is backed by one man whom without him we would be at best playing three or four levels below where we are. He has not got the club into debt – he IS the debt covering the £55m losses with a £40m interest free loan and a £15m bank overdraft secured on his personal land and assets.

Manchester United have been purchased by nearly £650m of leveraged buyout funds (that’s someone else’s money in layman’s terms) by a bunch of American sharks who draw up to £30m per annum out of the football club in personal funds and have laden the club with £60m of debt interest charges per annum meaning that the likelihood of them making any profit at EBITDA level is nigh impossible.

The average season ticket price at Old Trafford has increased from £487 in May 2005 to £722 this year, the season tickets in this time at Wigan have increased from £250 to £250, just over half the price that United tickets were five years ago?

Club saddled with expensive debt while the owners take millions out in drawings and even more debts to services the large interest payments running at 14% of turnover and eating away at profits and expensive ticket prices = unhappy fans

Interest free loans from owners without which club would be insolvent, covering accumulated losses out of owners own pocket and cheap ticket prices (should) = happy fans

I don’t see how Wigan Athletic fans have anything to protest about, save for your daily repetitive diatribe against the manager.

BTW Micky, there are a couple of pieces online about Jim Fleming written by Tony Topping and also an extract from Ken Barlow’s book, set in 1970 ‘Mild & Bitter Were the Days’ when Gordon Milne was in charge.

I’ll gladly give you the links if you so wish (if you can find them amongst the constant slagging off of our own fans ;) ), although I don’t want to just post them on here as I’m here to defend myself not to advertise ;)

          veta madre……..
Tears to eyes moment came after reading the sycophantic responses protecting “the TaNaKh.”…. The ‘author’ must be creaming himsef – in his ivory tower – over some of his really sad (no honestly) sad subordinates……. it’s going to be an embarassing debrief over the usual ‘half of mild’ this week.

Quite honestly………..I’d rather see the return of ‘beetlejuice’ et al than suffer the moanings of the ‘fifth columnists’ – who can’t leave the past alone and have no affinity with this generation.

I’m a football fanzine editor not the leader of the Third Reich :?

You seem to have a very unhealthy obsession with the Mudhuts website, and I would love to defend whatever it is you seem to be accusing individuals on there of doing but to be perfectly honest I barely understand a word of it

You also seem to have appointed yourself some kind of official leader of this site and protector of the peace of the good ship Cockney Latic against the evil Mudhuts

This is strange as I was a founder member of this site, edited 46 issues of the Cockney Latic fanzine over 6 years, wrote dozens of pieces for the website and organised countless social events.

In all that time, no MickyC ever wrote a page for the fanzine, never contributed a front page story, never introduced himself at any of our Cockney Latic charity or social events and indeed rarely used the message board at all in the six or so years that I was a moderator of it. I very much doubt John or Jay know you either but maybe I’d better ask seeing as you are taking such a deep and unhealthy interest in me :?

And as for me, well back in the real world – I’ve made lifelong friends through my association with Cockney Latic and it’s good to see that people on here still stick up for me even though I’ve not been around for a while. The reason being that they know me and have met me, they are not sat on internet message boards in the early hours dreaming up, elaborately concocted conspiracy theories while full of ale.

It’s been said that since our inception to the ‘Greed League’ we have seen an invasion of the JCL…..FFS it’s been 5 years….are we not allowed new supporters?

I suppose that’s why I’m ‘tarnished’………all those flat capped, whippet racing, mild drinking, woodbine smoking, pit working drunks knew more than me when I was a JCL watching Sir Milne and Mr Fleming knock them in in their day – but hey………it’s obvious that we need reminding.

I don’t care if someone has been watching Latics for 2 games or 2,000 games, the whole premise of the article was that we are struggling and instead of getting behind the team, around 1 in 3 of the fans we have picked up since our elevation to the Premier League have deserted the club because we are struggling in the lower reaches of the table.

My problem is with the ones who have stopped going not the ones who do go, and I don’t care how long they have been going.

Yes it did descend into a rant but it was from the heart, a call to arms, for those we have left to stick together.

I’m sorry you don’t agree with everything I write but if we all agreed life would be boring.

I do not preach I write, I don’t mind having my writing dissected, as you say

I’ve dedicated my life to writing about Latics: 2 books, 75 fanzine issues, contributing to many before that in the guise of the Latic Fanatic and the old Cockney Latic. I wrote for the programme for 2 years, contribute to endless newspapers, magazines, radio etc and I never take a penny because I love the club and I love writing about it. I must spend 30+ hours a month writing about Latics (I hope the wife doesn’t read this)

If you have a problem with other individuals on the Mudhuts/Mudhutter site why not take it up with them? They’re all big boys as I’m sure you are too.

To state we are all as one and of the same opinion is surely you doing the exact same form of stereotyping you have accused Mudhuts of doing?

Come on, Micky, give it up pal. I’ve not got all day to play games as I have to do a press release for another charity event but I’m out of my ‘ivory tower’ so do your worst. I’m also (from my professional background) working on a paer which will contain at least 50 ideas on how we can boost crowds at the DW which I will be putting in forward of the new CEO at some point.

I do this and give up time and effort for free because I care about the club not driven by some hidden agenda

If there is a hidden agenda, perhaps you’d like to tell me what that is, because I certainly don’t know?

Why not tell us all (in plain English not riddles if that’s possible) what your problem is with me?

As you say, life’s too short to hold grudges so feel free to be as honest as you like with me

Yet more mis-informed crp posted about me.
Getting a bit fckin tiresome now tbh.
Folk on here claiming to ‘know me’ :?:
            1. Not seen a live RL game since 1985.
            2. Not a mudhutter.(where did you dream that shte from)
3.Went to most away games pre.1987( ask old fred, who used to go to Wembley with me to watch the RL pre-1985 ;) )
            4. Moved house in 1987 and had to work 7 days to pay the fckin mortgate.(is that a good enough excuse for you?) Get yer facts right about me BIGBOY.

Sorry John, didn’t mean to drag you into this. The article was about the rise and fall (?) of the club, although Whelan buying the club/the 4th Cmapionship were important, the move to the JJB was when we saw the first big crowd hike and we started going places.

Having been on dozens of your trips, as far I am concerned you were a pivotal part of it. Getting a group of likeminded people (male and female and children) to enjoy more of a day out when previously they’d have to make their way off their own steam or by train or supporters coach. Some people never went on Arkys and carried on the way they always did, fair enough it wasn’t meant to be (here comes that word again) elitist.

You deserve a lot more respect than you get to be honest. It’s easy for others to be critical but having run quite a few coaches myself over the years I know what a ballache it is

The only terrace ‘gang’ I can recall, is that gang that the late Dave Wiggans was part of. His mate with the glasses, and at one time some big, fat, lad who looked like the leader. Remember them clearly from home games and aways.

Ste Ellam was the big lad, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards with the glasses, Simmy, Messham (still sits near in the West with his missus), Craig Halliwell who has been a ref for many years on a Sunday and in the Soccerdome, of course Dave Wiggins (RIP), Keith Naylor (is he still alive?), Norman Holland, Roy Kenyon, Jimmy Meadows, John Taylor, Dave Taylor (the original Dave from Skem) a girl called Jackie who I think was Eddie’s sister, Darren Todd (he of Elite Travel Club fame) all at the back of the supporters coach and at the front Jeff Rourke, Joe Mills, Danny Kennedy, Spike, Sabin (on the comps) and my good mate Andy Barnes, usually with his mum and granddad

But hey what do I know I was busy watching the rugby

PS Thanks to all the decent lads on here who actually know me and have defended me against the complete lies faceless keyboard warriors who don’t know me seem to be propagating about me on here…..
