If you were offered a job at a bigger company with more pay would you and your family and your friends consider that you’d “bottled it and jumped ship”.
No. I thought not.
The lightside will become the DARKSIDE if he does arrive at the DW :lol:Why?
“Lightside” is about supporting the manager even when things don’t go according to plan; realising that we are a small club living on a shoestring budget, and supporting the Chairman and manager, whoever they may be, in maintaining the club on an even keel and not screaming that we ought to be buying whoever on ridiculous wages; seeing the positives and not acting like a gloating rival fan if we lose; and turning up whatever, even if X, Y or Z has been sold or such-and-such is manager, and not saying “never going again” or “not renewing my season ticket” but claiming you were right along if things don’t go right, or particularly claiming you were right if things DO go right.
It may also be that he can see that managing Wigan he has a chance of being seen as successful – we hopefully will win more games and we will have European exposure. A Championship title under the belt would be a tick in the right boxes.
Managing Hull is going to be an uphill struggle, with only one outcome – this year, or next year.
“Embroidered”?
Heat transfer more like.
Had a quick look online to see if I could even get a clue waht this was about and came across this.
I know I shouldn’t laugh but…
I don’t want him particularly, but the key phrase in what you write is “brought the dingles up”. In other words he has a track record of getting a team out of the Championship. Isn’t that what we want, or am I missing something?
No – I think it’s tacky
Why do we need to bother ourselves with this?
If he’s gone, he’s gone. I genuinely wish him well, but how he does at Everton is for him and the Everton supporters to worry about.
The Ipswich pits were infamous in Victorian times, and the Brighton Pit-brow lasses all left for better things, leaving the town to the menfolk.
“OUR 6 year investment”?
And how much, pray, have you invested in him?
Don’t tell me you buy tickets – you are paying to watch football, be entertained (sometimes), and we are pretty much the cheapest in the League. The money you pay is for your benefit – never once have you thought “I’ll go to that match because it’ll help Wigan Athletic’s future player development”.
Whelan has invested a lot in him and the club – if he decides he wants to recoup some of that input then that is up to him. And if someone is going to take their ball home and not buy tickets for next year because we may sell one player then that says an awful lot more about them than about the clb.
My ticket last year was £280 for 19 games = £14.73 per game.
This season will be £310 for 26 games = £11.92 per game.
And your point is….?
“… according to Dave Whelan”
Probably correct – but we’ll see first
Rather have Karl Pilkington
Not being able to log on could be seen as a good thing :)
It was in yesterdays Sunday Mirror.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/wigan-transfer-news-rene-meulensteen-1926364
Oh thank God for that. I thought it was going to be an unreliable source.
