The game against Newport was on 8 March 1980 (we played Everton on 26 January, so it was just a few weeks after).
We lost 1-0, the crowd was 6,128 (just look how far we’ve come!) and the team was:
Crompton; Ward, Whittle, Gore (sub Brownbill), Methven, Davids, Corrigan, Wright, Houghton, Quinn, Urquhart.

My garden’s looking the best it has for ages – not a weed in sight.
I must admit I can’t see it being on – roads will be too unsafe, and to be honest I think most undersoil heating would still struggle with this.
