The £7m we received for Wildschutt means the lack of parachute payments next year wont hit us as hard.
We still need to be very careful.
As I understand it about £3 million of that is performance related, and the way Norwich are going may not be triggered, and we also owe Middlesbrough a sell-on fee. Add to that the fact that despite what a lot of people believe, most transfer fees are paid in instalments, we haven’t suddenly got a £7 million cheque in the bank.
This is why transfer fees are rarely disclosed, as the actual amounts are very difficult to calculate.
That’s not a very positive reply! ;)
It’s OK, Phil.
I’m going for a full hand tonight :)The £7m we received for Wildschutt means the lack of parachute payments next year wont hit us as hard.We still need to be very careful.

Everyone has been going on (on various social media) about us needing to play 4-4-2. I have constantly argued that we are in fact playing 4-5-1, even when we play both Bogle and Grigg.
I was now being sarcastic that “playing two up front” (joking – hence the quotes), even though we aren’t, has led to us winning. Oh no, it hasn’t. As our goal came from a centre back.
It was a simple sideswipe at the 4-4-2 brigade that has now completely lost its intended point. :(Glad to see “playing two up front” has produced goals.
What’s that you say? Buxton’s a centre back?Did we play two up front tonight? We played with two strikers which is different than two up front. Glad to see whatever it was produce a win.
That was my point, and why I put “two up front” in quotes.
Glad to see “playing two up front” has produced goals.
What’s that you say? Buxton’s a centre back? You may not have noticed but we don’t have Best, Law and Charlton in our side.
Therein lies the difference. The managers decide if the pitch is to be watered, not the groundsman.
Certainly a big improvement when we went 442 second half, but then again just about anything would have been an improvement on the first half! We’re “officially” in the drop zone now and given the next 3 fixtures the task looks very tough. Bogle looks like he could be a real handful, IF he gets the support.
Surely Yootha will now go 442 at least at home
Except it wasn’t 4-4-2, it was still 4-5-1. Certainly Grigg played further forward to support the striker (which is how it should work, Jacobs has just not been up to the job in the past), but we did not have 2 up front alongside each other.
Added to which the risk of 4-4-2 of a depleted midfield was lessened by Bogle running his little socks off and dropping back, even into defence when needed.
We have a gem, that just now needs to get up to Championship pace (eg the offsides against better defences than he has faced up to now).Ref is Peter Bankes.
Games 25, yellows 93, reds 10!That is a scary stat… On the plus side, we’ve had him once before at Leeds and not one yellow or red produced.. Let’s hope it’s the same again.
But the last time he reffed Norwich (v Newcastle) there were 10 yellows :)
Ref is Peter Bankes.
Games 25, yellows 93, reds 10!I don’t understand why he gone back to rayo but ye good luck to the manBecause it’s in Spain, and that’s where he wants to be, I guess
I’m at that age where it takes me a few games to get used to one new signing.
I’m doomed :(
He’ll be popular at the DW next week if this is true :)
