Both should be a nice passage into round 3 barring any mess ups and then a big away tie in London would be nice to bring in some revenue.
The allocations will be very small though , either tie would sell 2000 tickets especially if its Chester but have a feeling it may be one selected for TV coverage.

Just had a thought ,maybe they want a cup run for financial reasons, a big away draw in the 3rd round can mean a massive cash boost although chances are very slim of getting this based on past experiences.
The team he has is more than good enough to pull away from trouble but he has some dead wood rooting to do in the new year and i think moving one or two out would be the best thing if he can.
Id play a weakened team tomorrow and make sure the main players are in on tuesday , league one status is far more important than cup runs this year as far as i am concerned as a drop to league 2 would be disastrous for the club.
League 1 is the best place to be and i will happily take a few years of consolidation and transition and some good youth players developed as opposed to short term success.
It took Whelan 8 years to build the club up for the championship when he purchased in 1995 and i have a feeling we may have to be patient and accept we have many years ahead in the lower divisions before the club can build steam up again.
The odd cup run and local derby wins here and that is all i am expecting over the next few years.
Could easily be getting ready tomorrow for a trip to Holker Old Boys if things had gone the wrong way a few months ago.

Playing a weakened side for an important league game is beyond the realms of inept in my opinion.
Couldn’t believe how poor that first half display and left on 70 minutes and totally down to the team he picked.
A home banker that all day and three points tossed away.

At least the penny has dropped that instead of playing billy big time that they are in a relegation battle and that realisation was certainly on show during the game against a very good side.
Tickle was superb last night and i saw enough of Stones in the small amount of time he was on the pitch to suggest he will feature very strongly in this team from now on.
The intensity has certainly been stepped up , expecting a climb up the table in next few weeks if they continue to play like that.

Agree with all the intelligentcomments above, all put better than I ever could.
In many respects last night reminded me of the dark days of early 90s pre Whelan but at least that bunch tried and sweated for their team.
They are a team so lacking any feature of what we have come to expect from a team representing Wigan Athletic that I actually felt pity for Burton going in at the break somehow a goal behind.
Only Hughes with his incredible passing range ( wasted mostly)and Tickle came out of that with any credit and but for Tickle it may well have been 4 or 5 against.
One of the worst performances of the last 30 years in my view that last night.

Dear me how bad was that ?
A total lack of ideas and an extreme lack of power or intensity.
Bristol Rovers looked a cut above and we never got near them and some of the play was beyond naive.
Not sure why they played so badly today and I will take 5th bottom right now

Reality check really because I think a few especially after the Bolton game started to misguidedly expect promotion.
                          Let’s get real , no chance ,
scarred by the numerous relegations and admin for this season success will be staying up and that is it.
From there it’s kick on again and early signs are good but expect some weird results which is what you always get with a team in transition.
Staying up is number one priority for me and developing the academy set up.

A coffee and Madri last Saturday was nearly a tenner , unbelievable !
Used to be able to go out on a Friday night and have 6 pints of lager a bag of chips and ten cigs and still have some change from a fiver !
Inflation calculator tells me that in real terms that fiver would be worth £15 today meaning prices have gone through the roof haven’t they?
6 pints of lager , a bag of chips and ten cigs would be comfortably double that and more today.

Would take great pleasure in a victory over Barnsley, no pre match preamble needed for this one , just remind the players of 2020.
                              That should be enough !

A great turnaround yesterday and Callum’s goal was one of those memorable moments that will stick in the mind for a long time.
The performance lacked intensity for the first hour and they lapped that up and could easily have been two or three up by then with the missed chances they had.
The changes upped the tempo with more direct play and it led to a barnstorming finish worthy of any Latics team.
The sooner the better the points deduction is erased the better, hopefully at Carlisle in midweek and then on to our ‘mates’ at Horwich.
