Supporter power has intensified in recent years with the mass social media channels and maybe for the very first time the supporters called all the shots on saturday night in my view.

A post by the supporters club seem to act as the final straw for Lowe on Saturday night and i cannot remember in my near 47 years as a supporter such vitriol directed towards a serving manager in all that time

For that i do feel sympathetic towards him as i am sure we all wanted him to do well when he started. For me the cracks started showing as early as last September and it was all downhill from then on.

Allegedly sending tired players to the training ground on a sunday was one of my first red flags  back in september and i said at the time results would sink after that and they di

I think the club needs an old school head to get it out of this crisis and one who calls the shots out on the pitch and at the training ground rather than someone who is good in front of a camera and microphone.

Now time to focus on the Reading game , one of the most important  now for many reasons

Maurice Lindsay the former Wigan RL chairman might not have been everyone’s cup of tea but first and foremost he and his small board invested in the team as a matter of priority.

Nobody can argue at the results of that action , 30,000 crowds and massive profile for them back then.

Add to that his enthusiasm and energy , the bloke would carry kit and buckets around to help out and he never missed a trick to promote his club.

Sustainability in the lower divisions is almost impossible I would say as without the investment on the pitch this results in lower crowds, lower profile and even bigger losses as the player values would plummet at league 2 level.

In the short term the absolute priority is to stay at this level and I would prefer an experienced manager with a CV that has on it a relegation battle or five rather than some corporate sounding soundbite whizzkid full of stats and debrief talk.

Some of the play was so bad I can honestly I have seen a better standard in the south Lancs league.
The passage of play that saw one  our players  actually blaming a linesman for his inept technique of spewing  a simple ball out of play in an attacking position really said it all to me.
Posh must have thought it was Christmas with all the gifts our absolutely garbage team gifted today.
I think the ‘project ‘ is over , time to try something else and bloody quick !

Due to social media i have never see such vitriol towards one manager in my life , used to be a few snotty letters to the local rag and wrapped up in chippy paper a few days later at best.

The likes of Hamilton and Kenyon survived for years , deffo wouldnt today thats for sure.

Lowe has faced a bombardment of late and i doubt there is a past Latics manager has faced such pressure going into a home game bar maybe Roberto with the West Ham home game in 2011.

Time to put down the swords me thinks for now , all thoughts aside , feel a bit sorry for the bloke despite his bloody mindedness.

If he is the manager still after all  the “Noise” (to quote him)  then he is made of bloody sturdy stuff and an albeit tiny part of me wants him to improve and do well and keep the team in this division, managerial changes at this time of year have been  disasterous in the past ( Toure, Joyce, Rioch and Mckay spring to mind) sometimes though there is no choice.

As much as its tough its  perhaps time to just get behind this demoralised team and hope for a performance from the bottom of the boots off all of them like the second half at Doncaster and the Preston game.

Hopefully he gives them free rein a bit and lets them have a go and changes it up, i dont think he has a choice.

Any supporter that takes the time and trouble to travel a 160 plus miles round trip deserves to be able to vent their feelings.

The players are making errors and my view is they are being sent out full of nerves based on his oh so serious management.

The late great Brian Clough used to send his players out relaxed with simple clear messages , our team is not relaxed , they look like frightened rabbits.

I was told many years ago in my own line of work to keep things simple and I have done ever since and always always relaxed .

Needs a winning run and a 3 – 4 game wins  to remove the toxic feeling around the club and I am not sure that is going to happen.

Final note , when did we last score 3 goals in any game ?

                    Great memory

Remember that game against Wycombe , slaughtered them on a glorious summer afternoon and gave the false impression of a fantastic season ahead.
after that an Struggling to remember anything more memorable that season  than that other than 5500 travelling to Blackburn for the FA cup 3 rd.

Good prices also from what I have seen so well done to Arsenal.

No fist pumping today after that woeful display , beyond bad , not one shot on target ffs!!!!
Have seen some bad performances over the years from Latics teams  but very few as bad as that and  it’s now only one point about the relegation places and some very tough games coming up.The bottom 4 beckons and league 2 is a real possibility , running towards it rather than sleepwalking.

Looks like they are repairing it on Friday in time for Saturday.
well done the landlord Harry at the Brick for pushing this with the authorities, that pub could have faced the death knell with something like that and that place is a major communal meeting place for supporters of football and rugby alike

I think the upcoming Bolton game might have forced the issue with thousands of rival supporters converging on canal towpath , the shortest route to the ground.

Seen some rumours circulating regarding Tickle this month , Sheffield United seem to be the main club that keeps cropping up.

A great draw and a decent payday for the club , hopefully  the additional funds will be used to do that most important of aspects when running a club to strengthen the playing squad.

A big day out for our yonger players and some incentive to have a real go prior to this fixture which looks like it will be the highlight of what has been a fairly forgettable season so far.

Let’s hope he keeps that playing style going forward because it was far more easy on the eye and they played well across the pitch.
Maybe needs to relax the players a bit more at home , play with abandon and attack teams.
Spoke to a Bolton season ticket holder yesterday who said they have been  poor in recent weeks so I’d say treat next week as a cup final like yesterday  because a win against them would be a big boost to this squad of players and might well herald a turning point.
