The day the music died (to the tune of American pie)
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that football used to make me smile
Griff said give Martinez a chance
And he would make the west stand dance
And maybe they’d be happy for a while
But February made me quiver
With every defeat he would deliver
Bad news on survival
We couldn’t beat our rivals
I still remember how I cried
As I watched my team devoid of pride
And something hurt me deep inside
The day our dream just died.(chorus)
So bye by as I choked on my pie
Drowned my sorrows in the pagefield,
coz the brick had run dry
The dark side boys were drinking bitter or mild
Singing this will be our last match on sky
Will this be the day that we died.did bob write a book on love
and is he blessed by god above
as the light side tells us so
do they believe in pass and go
a high speed match with lots of goals
or do the like the game played real slow’ oo
well i know that they’re in love with him
i saw it on the web from a guy named jim
bob’s is the man for the the blues
they even dig his shiny brown shoe’oooss
i was a lonely middle aged drunken buck
with a pint of tetley , who didn’t give a f**k
but i knew the ticks were out of luck
the day the buddies (st mirren) came
i started singing
(chorus)I met a girl who loved the blues
And i asked her for some happy news
she just frowned and turned away
I stepped out from the concourse door
To where i’d watched my hero’s years before
But the game was gone with no time left to play’hey
And in the south the children screamed
The east stand cried and the west stand dreamed
Not a word was spoken
Was the tannoy finally broken
And the 3 rags i despised the most
The star the sun and the evening post
They sent their hacks to laugh and boast
About The day our dream had died
And they were singing(Chorus) and fade

14 May 2011 at 6:03 pm #65376Win both games and we are guaranteed to stay up pretty much. Get behind the lads instead of making up songs like a big girls blouse!

aye we are pretty much “guarenteed”i’ll stick to song writing
14 May 2011 at 6:16 pm #65383Remember my little sister writing up songs like that when she was about 11! Whats with the ‘guarenteed’?
Shock horror! Club with lowest fanbase in league with one of smallest budgets is in relegation trouble. Change the record! This is football. We have had a great run and i have no problem taking it on the chin. In Bobby we trust!

A (supposedly) grown man tippexing out lines in his copy of Smash Hits in his bedroom, no doubt having a little giggle and a crafty tug over his cleverness, all because the team he (supposedly) supports looks like it might finally be relegated from a league it has struggled in for 6 years??
No mate, I’m all for banter and humour, even with LMB, but I don’t think that’s even that good, to be honest. If he put as much effort into supporting the team as he clearly put into writing that nonsense, we’d all be a lot better off.

Probably makes better reading than one of your books (or pamphlets as they are termed).

griff you are never “all for banter” unless its you doing the bantering, and even then its snide and condesending never give and take “banter”
for your information i heard the song this morning on the radio first time in years and seeing it was an iconic song of my youth, i knew all the words anyway – one line “you both kicked off your shoes” got me thinking ‘bobby- brown shoes’, and while watching both blackpool and wolves on the internet, and noting their lack of skill but fighting spirit something that is alien to martinez and his squad led me to think of the rest.
you continue to support this clown and use me as your surrigate punching bag if it makes you feel better, then make your bold claims about being a better supporter than one who doesnt buy in to the crap served up by martinez or the defensive smokescreen thrown up by his supporters.
14 May 2011 at 7:18 pm #65406then make your bold claims about being a better supporter than one who doesnt buy in to the crap served up by martinez or the defensive smokescreen thrown up by his supporters. When have I ever said that? Grow up.
I’ll tell you what, you support the team in whatever way you see fit and I’ll do likewise.
I find it incredible that so-called supporters can’t wait for the club to be relegated just so they can jibe and say “we told you so”. As if those of us who do support Martinez and what he his trying to do actually never thought there was a chance we might go down in the process.

Here, here Griff.
All that I ask now is that if and its a fekin big if now, but if we stop up LMB does not show his face on here again. :snooty:
That shyte version of a great song that he has childishly penned [does anyone know how old this feker is?], has confirmed what a lot of us on here have thought for a while.LMB= COMPLETE AND UTTER
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!14 May 2011 at 8:35 pm #65432I can’t belive that some of our fans actually seem to be taking pleasure from the fact we might get relegated.
I know the PL is blown out of proportion with all its hype, but it is the top league and where everyone aspires to be.
Relegation if it happens won’t be the end of the world, and hopefully Roberto will be there to lead us back us next season.
Two games, two wins and we will break the hearts of the likes of loudmouthblue.
