It tells me that they’ve tried but not been able to clinch a deal. Maybe we should just go out there and pay way more than we can afford. Would that make you feel better?

Who knows what we can afford? This lot who were apparently better placed than Whelan to take us forward don’t say anything. They don’t even feed their puppet chairman with anything.
I thought we had been bought by a group of Chinese billionaires.
Sounds more like ten Bob millionaires.

          Have I missed something?
When was it announced that the consortium that took us over were billionaires?

Well if they’re a group that are much more financially capable of taking Latics further forward than Dave they must be or can’t be far off being billionaires collectively.

I hope you’re right but we haven’t seen much evidence of it yet.

When you look at IEC and see the individuals connected to it quite a few billionairs including members of the cheng family (allthough no longer in control of IEC )
Plenty of big money men but the thing is are any of them willing to part with some cash

The point is that IEC is a HK stock-market listed company.
WAFC are part of the assets of that organisation.
The directors of that company (as it is publicly listed they cannot be called owners – the shareholders are the owners albeit that the directors are major holders) cannot invest individual money into the company without it being part of a share offer that would need to be approved by an EGM or AGM.
The company itself can pump resources in if the directors believe it will improve the net worth of the operation, but individuals, billionaires or not, cannot do that.

True but the individual millionaires can but I’m sure that will never happen. Were no more than an asset with an excellent location and stadium to hold events at i.e live artist, possible boxing etc.
I looked at their background before the takeover and they have a history at live events.
As for IEC investment ?, only time will tell but unless they speculate to accumulate and spend wisely then we’re in for another season of struggle.
We’ve consolidated now it’s time to step it up and get a foothold in the Championship. I mean, if Preston can surely we can ?

They have a history of dabbling in different things getting bored then trying something else. That’s the worrying thing for me. I suppose at the end of the day it will all depend on how successful they will be with this latest “venture” and that will reflect on how well they manage the club and stadium.
I’m quite happy for them to keep a low profile and let Royle and Jackson do the talking who are football people.
I don’t see a problem in them milking the stadium as much as they can if it means a bit of investment for us.They will certainly understand what it means financially getting to the premier league so I’m sure that will be included in their business plans.

Its all about honesty and clarity with fans. I don’t expect the new owners to be sat and interviewed but we hear nothing from the Royals.
Were told there’ll be more emphasis on youth coming through but we’re looking at Sam Gallagher at around £5 million with Powell type wages when we in truth we should giving young Callum Lang a chance.
Most lower Div fans must envy Latics and the position were in with the new owners but it’s all based on theory and the “what if” fctor

There is nothing to say that Lang won’t get some form of chance this season but what has he done to suggest that he is ready to play a serious role in a Championship side? He may well be ready for the odd cameo here and there to improve on his experience but you want to just throw him in and say “off you go son” based on what exactly?

Unfortunately we are not in a position where we can risk a season of playing the kids no matter what happens because financially we are already up against it in this division and if we were to be relegated wouldn’t be guaranteed the same successes as previously because the PL money has gone.

IEC will NOT be splashing the cash around like Man City do. For a start off we have to adhere to FFP rules and seeing as we make next to nothing we would struggle to be able to just buy, buy, buy. The first thing we need to do is find ways to increase revenue and that comes from A- surviving at this level for a few years, B- using our assets, IE the stadium, to better effect and C- investing in youth to try and become a Crewe style club that nurture players and sell for big bucks. It is all going to be a lengthy process with some highs and plenty lows, but people need to realise that (thankfully) these guys won’t be deliberately bankrupting the club.

Check the official website, to be fair Royle has given a good interview, obviously he can’t divulge names with respect to player interest.

You know what’s coming in the transfer window. We’ll pick up 1 or 2 players then with hours to go we’ll do our usual Dale Winton Transfermarket Sweep were we bring in a sh1tload of players half that will never play and the other half that will get loaned straight back out never to be seen again like Russia sending convicts to Siberia.

Once upon a time we were amongst the very best at cherry picking top level bargains then sell on for a huge profit nowadays were amongst the laughable worse at doing no more than filling the changing room for the sake of it.

God knows who’s scouting and recruiting players but I know one thing, their stealing a fookin living. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could do a better job.

I can think of at least 20 players off the top of my head that have been brought in and immediately dumped and some for good brass.

You me or anyone doesn’t have a clue how these new owners will operate so you can’t tar them with the same brush has previous management at this stage. I remember Paul Jewell saying that teams outside the Prem can only start serious recruitment after the big boys have done their dealings. Only then will it be come apparent who is available to take on loan or who is being released, the chain of events begin. I’m sure everyone at the club are doing what they can to add to our squad, but unfortunately we are not an “attractive” club for any semi decent player in terms of our wage structure and where we are in the batting order in the championship. If you were say Alan Hutton, which club would you choose in West Brom, Forrest or Hull?. If your after a decent salary then it would be the baggies, if you want regular football, a decent wage and don’t have to uproot your family then it would be Forrest. That’s what we are up against, so let’s not get too giddy or over expectant, we are what we are. PC does not have a crystal ball so I’m sure he’ll bring players in who won’t make the first team on a regular basis, that’s football.

You need a good team of scouts and contacts as we’ve done it in the past, ask Norwich with Pukki it still can be done.
It’s not about competing with the big boys in the Championship, it’s more about out smarting them and picking up and taking chances on uncut diamonds.

We need a good team of scouts who actually watch the players without using YouTube plus drip feeding some of our talented youth players into the squad giving them a chance and a hope that one day theyllbreak through.

Recruiting ex premier players still asking for decent wages is not the way forward for a club like us for me its money poorly spent.
We paid a reported £1 million for Lopez nevermind the purchase of Walker and Cole. Their signings had nothing to do with waiting for the big boys to do their business it was more about sh1t scouting and recruitment.
