Sunderland have sold out there allocation but will we get 18000 + which we should be doing for this fixture ???
Im unsure but im hoping we can get near it and make it a great atmosphere, if only to torment Bramble and Bruce.
Im so looking forward to Bramble gifting us a goal.
And yes you sinics it may be the only way we can score but who cares
I’m all for giving Bruce a bit of banter, but all Bramble will be getting off me is a round of applause and a chuckle if he does indeed drop one on Saturday.
Best defender since Arry…Can’t boo him. Each to their own n that.

Agree big mistake letting him go for “£Peanuts”!.
await SW.
You could make some clear comparisons to this fixture and determine how much support has been lost. Last season, Wigan hosted Sunderland the game after a drubbing at Spurs. This season Wigan host Sunderland after a victory at Spurs.
Prior to last year, all the premier league fixtures between Wigan & Sunderland at the DW have been played early season. Every fixture has kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday.
The constant factor above was that Sunderland either sold out or came damn close to selling all their tickets.
My guess is that the total crowd will be around 17,000, with 4500 – 5000 supporting Sunderland, but I guess it depends on how many take up the offer of dirt cheap tickets.

Err no they haven’t – I can’t be bothered to mention the other years but I know in our first season up they only brought just over a 1000 (a stark contrast to a few months before when they sold out the East Stand for a Championship game)
The only clubs that either sell out or come close to selling out the away end every season are United, Liverpool, Everton & possibly City. Newcastle have when they’ve played & Arsenal, Chelsea & Spurs always bring a good few (but not sell outs) but Sunderland don’t
Latics attendance on Saturday
How many we will take away to Fulham
What the score in the Warriors game was
Who will win Ultimate Big Brother
Who is going to be written out of Coronation Street next
Whether the BT couple on TV get divorced or together
What Jeremy Clarkson thinks about my car
These are just a few of the things that I really can’t be bothered even thinking about.

SW’s PA here.
Bramble wanted to go, and specifically wanted to go to Sunderland.
Bramble was on ridiculously high wages, with just one year left on his contract.
Bramble was – allegedly – a disruptive influence in the dressing room.
I actually liked the lad, but I just can’t see how it was a mistake at all.

That all depends on how you look at it really
Before he left we had the following pool of centre halves – Alcaraz, Gohouri, G Caldwell, Boyce & Bramble
We now have – Alcaraz, Gohouri, G Caldwell, Boyce & S Caldwell
Whilst it aint a position where the squad is particularly thin on the ground I’d say that its now a poorer group of players just due to that one change
Obviously there’s the dressing room influence etc.. to take into account as well but I think purely from a footballing perspective it could be viewed as a mistake. Time will tell I guess

cant argue about the high wages as he probably was a high wage earner and in whelans austerity driven new era that would target any top earners, but does anyone other than me find it strange, that evertime a player leaves us the –

Perhaps, which is why I used the word allegedly. And whilst the rumour mill is just that, there’s rarely smoke without fire.
My post was an attempt to explain why he was allowed to leave for peanuts – if indeed “undisclosed equates to peanuts – and the reasons I listed could be argued to justify that.

If they are true, of course.[/quote]
Was for a million wasn’t it. And if that was just paper talk then I have heard £1M mentioned more than undisclosed. The lad was our best defender, should NOT have gone.
Bramble was never going to be able to play Martinez’s style of football as his passing and speed of thought at times were slow. Bramble was more of a grafter and never looked completely confident on the ball.
I still rate him quite high as a defender but Martinez wants us to retain possession in all areas, and he struggled at this, normally rolling out his crossfield long ball to little effect.

Serious? His crossfield long ball was a good part of his game.. Often found N’zog and Rodallega.
I can remember a few times when this ball came off but i’d like to see his percentage success rate.
I thought he did better for us under Bruce but that was playing a more solid and conventional system, where he seemed more at home. I think Bramble knew this more than anyone.

I’d tend to agree with that, I too thought that his long pass wasn’t suited to his game and it undermined his confidence (he was’is a confidence player). Good soldier for us in his day, however, I always saw him as a ‘traditional’ centre back who, when drawn wide, resorted to hoof ball (it’s all he knew). Now if we can get our attacking ‘trio’ to pull him out wide that’s where we will break them down in the final third. Just an opinion like.
