Listen, if Boselli had been a success and bagged a hat full he would have been gone last Summer ! Is he still our player ? As fans and paying customers should the club at least tell us what the current situation is regarding him ? Nobody seems to know the full story on this enigma !
He’s out on loan – what more do you want to know?
Why is out on loan to the club who we paid £6million for in the first place is a good question in my book !!
So we can recoup part of the fee we paid from loan fees, have his wage bill covered and give him the chance to get back to his goal scoring ways so he can either come back in good form or tempt a large in enough transfer fee.
Talk about criticising for the sake of it…
I don’t think it is quite as simple as you put it ! have you got some figures to back up your answers ? Something has gone on, what ? Who knows but it has !!

The way that Cerys Matthews used to sing that used to annoy the bejesus out of me !! Also the road-rage one used to actually give me radio-rage !! Give me Super Furry Animals over that shite any day !!
29 February 2012 at 5:51 pm #81993You talk about bad signing’s and then bring up Steve Bruce?
Krapo, De riddled and that chinese fella….
3 of our worse premiership signings without a doubt!
Kapo cost 3 million – he looked the part prior to signing for us , I actually remember going to birmingham when he had a blinder against us, bossed midfield and scored 2 goals- however he rwas poor for us so yes he was a mistake, de ridder and “the chinese fella”(Won-Hee Cho,who was actually South Korean)were both free transfers, de ridder never let us down when he played, and cho was probably more about raising our profile in the asian markets. And those signings were all made when our transfer budget was alot more than now – dont forgrt about the massive profits bruce’s signings brought in as well, although king and kapo are negatives on his transfer cv.
If you want to compare signings, how about this front 3
boselli(£6+mill)
scotland(£3mill)
di santo(£4mill)Now for a team with such a limited amount of money to spend now compared to what we were prepared to spend in the past the amount of money for goal return that martinez has spent is actually a disgrace.
Scotland and Di Santo were both £2 million so dont get too carried away will you…
Bruce signed Marlon King for £ 5 million !!!
Your not pulling the wool over my rose tinted specs sunshine…
29 February 2012 at 7:16 pm #81995Rodders,Sammon,Di Santo,…..I would have Yakubu any day .No its not a stroke of luck ,its called an educated gamble.Something you have to risk when the dollop is up to your ears. What do you call whipping out 2.5 mill for a forward whose scoring ratio pre Wigan was bordering on criminal(Di Santo)as for Bosselli we will never know..Sorry Robbie has failed miserably with his aquisitions so instead of the buck stopping at his feet let’s wallow in “little Wigan syndrome”.
Yes, let’s just blame the manager, because after all, we are not ‘little Wigan’ who have been turned down by players on a regular basis for the past seven years.
So you’d say a player who was released on loan by Everton to Leicester, who many thought was overweight and past his best, and who I was hazard a guess is on a salary in excess of our present ceiling is a calculated gamble, but signing South America’s top scorer, a young enthusiastic Chelsea forward, or the SPL’s most improved striker are not worthwhile risks?
Funnily enough, on the endless pages of transfer gossip, suggestions, wish lists etc that clogged this board up pre-season, there was not one mention of Yakubu by anyone. Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it?
And as for wallowing, who is wallowing? I most certainly am not. I came to terms with the fact that we couldn’t match the wages of our competition and that Wigan is not an attractive proposition many years ago, and that’s why I don’t throw my toys out of the pram or blame people when signings don’t come off, or indeed, if we lose.
Standish I agree with what your saying about the quality of player we can attract, being kind not the best. Which brings me to my gripe with Bob, if we have to sign poorer quality players how can you try and model our style of play on probably the best club side ever????

Which brings me to my gripe with Bob, if we have to sign poorer quality players how can you try and model our style of play on probably the best club side ever????It’s a very valid question Hindley, and I think the simple answer is – because that’s the way he wants football played.
Martinez is big on developing young players, and bringing through players from the Youth and Development squads is the only way Wigan can compete with bigger, wealthier clubs. Young players will be attracted to, and will learn a lot more, at a club who try to play the ‘right’ way rather than a team who play with a ‘Crazy Gang’ mentality.
And / Or
Martinez is getting the team to play this way for his own personal development – as it will look good on his CV, and is the way he intends he next, bigger team to play.
Just my theories…
29 February 2012 at 11:46 pm #81998hit the nail on the head for me standish, think bob is a good manage who wants to play good passing football but the players we have are not technicaly good enough to do what he wants.
1 March 2012 at 12:09 am #81999Buys low grade players then trys to get them to play like Barcelona .Makes him an idealist in need of a reallity check in my book.I wont mind us free falling through the leagues as long as we try to play sexy.
1 March 2012 at 12:31 am #82000when we were in the lower leagues even in the 80’s the football was poor, hit and hope most of the time, but if we won it was great,it didn’t matter,a poor game became a great game.

My take is that for exactly the same reasons playing any other style would probably yield the same result. I don’t see how people who you believe can’t retain possession of, or pass, a football or hit a cow’s arse with a banjo in front of goal would suddenly become world beaters playing a different way. Or are we saying that you don’t need to keep the ball, pass properly or hit the target playing a different way?

But may be Griff if we had more of our players in a position to hit a cows arse with a banjo then one of them might just manage it???
Just a thought like ;)

If they can’t hit one, they can’t hit one. And the more players you put up there, the less there are in midfield to miskick it up there for them to try ;)
I’ve said this for a couple of years now; I’d like to see Bob give 442 a prolonged experiment just to see how it goes, but I’m not remotely convinced it will make that much difference.
