ok. Fair point. O’Donnell has made some good 1 on 1 saves already. I’ll take your point.

Imagine the stink that would have been kicked up if he’d held back and let the striker through and he scored. He did what he had to do.

Hypothetical, for me he did right he took the option out of the goal scorers hands. A better defender would have cleaned tackled him and a better attacking player would have skipped the tackle and drilled it home but its Div1 football, nuff said

I’m a great believer in letting one on ones go as the amount of times the attacker misses is far more than they score.

In the heat of the battle though that’s a split decision, in the end we lost and have lost a man. Some would argue that’s a good thing due to who it is, someone quite rightly points out he’s more prolific in open player than others.

Are you for real?? So Barnett should have pulled out of the tackle and let the guy through on goal, cos the odds say he would have missed.? :S

Yes I’m for real as are quite thankfully some others. We lost and we’re man down after a red card, how was that a beneficial decision? yes he may still have scored but he still had to against our keeper who I rate even if you don’t in a one on one.

Barnets foul may have indirectly lost us the game but could leaving Grigg on the bench and playing one recognised striker not have had a bigger impact? Also why couldn’t we have started the way we finished last week. That way we may not have gone one down and have been chasing the game. Gary did change things around but the biggest change was the starting line up which is down to him and be is equally at fault as Barnet.

Should have took the point and settled for that given the pace of their forwards.
Naivety really Caldwell hopefully will learn from that but deffo a point chucked away.

Was it McCann I saw also attempting to take one for the team when they got their winner? Tried to punch the ball clear! Defence absolutely clueless for 2 of their goals and Barnett should have been tracking the run of the lad he clumsily felled anyway, he is a big lummox very similar to Bramble in my opinion, he has his positive moments but on the whole he’s not very good! As for Caldwell messing with shit, some managers like to tinker and chop and change things, when they come off they are hailed genius’s but when it goes tits up they are pillocks! Still in touch with the leading pack as other results seem a little capricious at this moment so let’s not get too down eh!

A NPL league reunion next week and it will be tough but after a shite pre-season and jittery league starts it is time to start seeing something of the team with a comfortable win. I wouldn’t bet on it though now Gaz is in the Swappenchange mood.

You have a point there. It wasn’t Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero bearing down on goal, it was a Port Vale striker. The odds on 3rd division strikers sticking them away when one-on-one is a lot higher than your multi-million pound internationals.

I’ve just watched the sending off a few times on repeat. Barnett made a bad decision, simple as that. For me at worst he could have stood him up and sent him away from goal, I actually think he could have got to the ball first with the slightest bit of effort. Very clumsy, poor defending.

Not a chance that lad for Port Vale would have even got a shot off if he’d stood him up and not gone to ground.

All round performance which cost us the game, though I’m sure we’ll get better as a group inc the manager

I suggest you write a letter to pass on to the players, that they can give to GC when they pull out of last man challenge, explaining that Terrhance said we are better letting them go, cos he thinks they are more likely to miss.
They could all hold a copy in their shorts, Chimmbonda-esque, ready to hand it over at full time, although it will be from the bench as they will most certainly been subbed.

As for the others you refer to, you mean Mutty and he is as chubster wind up merchant that only winds himself up nobody else on here.

No I don’t refer to just Mutty and you really are just a tedious know nowt, who can’t read, understand or put forward any form of logical football debate without becoming abusive or using lots of little people dancing and pulling faces. I’d have a good long look at yourself.

Maybe watch back the foul as I have and tell me it was the right option, if you can’t I’ll take the apology. If you can back him up as you appear to be doing tell me why it was the right decision and I’ll debate it with you. If you can be that adult.

He wasn’t watching the lad make his move and the lad got a couple of yards on him before he could do anything and when he did it was late and clumsy, bad defending full stop!

Its so easy to make a call, after the event. You must be totally nieve to think at the time it was the wrong thing to do.
He could have got a slight touch on the ball, it is down to such fine margins. I clapped Barnett of the field with the other 1299 latics fans that were there. So that’s 1300 fans who could appreciate the effort he made to stop the guy from running in one and one on the goalie, against you and a rugby numpty, lets leave it at that.
