Just a footnote to the above. There is part of me relishing the fact that we could be in for a relegation battle rather than us meandering into mid table obscurity, where matches have no importance. It was nice last season to sit and watch the last few games knowing the results didn’t matter, but on the other it was a tad boring.

Mid table obscurity would be nice just once in a while, it years since we had it.
This promotion, relegation, play off lark isn’t good for an old fucker like me every season, mixed with Cup Finals, semi’s and quarters finals, its exhausting.
It is Wigan Athletic though at the end of the day, it’s the way we do it, and if truth were told, we wouldn’t change much, would we?

If we were mid table and boring we’d still find a way to make it exhausting!

And thats why we love the Tics

Only two things that desperately need changing. 1 the boring bilge that’s loosely described as football we play and 2 the manager who persists in playing the boring bilge that’s loosely described as football. Other than that spot on Horc.

The sickening thing and most worrying is that compared to most seasons this isn’t a vintage championship. As many on here have pointed out who have seen most games there isn’t a lot to be frightened of. Yet we are not competing in a poor championship so that’s what it is. We are rudderless at present and its killing the club. I always feared we would regret the day the Whelan family said goodbye coz at least they tried to fix things even if sometimes it didn’t work (Joyce). We need a gaffer at the very top but it’s taking too long to sort out to save us this season. I can see us doing a Pompey if this goes on for much longer. Luckily we will always be Wigan Athletic the biggest little club in the world. COYL

I was meaning in general JR the whole thing on show is not exactly awe inspiring. There was a glimmer of hope in the Albion game but still a lack of exciting wing play which I like and still only five shots on target. I reckon this isnt an amazing league but the whole 4-2-3-1 is dragging the game down as an entertainment thing at our level. Football seems all too bogged down with ten players competing with each other in midfield and strikers cast adrift.
Cant judge the boredom factor on Saturday as I didnt go. One £25-00 too many at this time of year. Hopefully we will resurect at least one real winger soon to get round defenders and serve an incoming striker like Moore but Ill hold my breath.

Performances have improved the last 2 games because we have played football & not hoofball. I hope when Moore returns to the side, Cook continues to adopt his footballing philosophy. I think we can turn the corner if he continues with this approach. Even Stevie Wonder could see that hoofball wasnt working. If Cook reverts back to hoofball however, then I do fear we are doomed.

                  Don’t be so sure.

If we go down, Stanley Choi will sell us for £1 to the first person he can. If we do go down, the club is in serious, serious financial trouble. Could go down same route as Bolton.

And that is the reason why I for one never scoffed at their “demise.” My biggest fear is that the same could very easily happen to ourselves.

Well, here are some other snippets of things I have been told.

Stanley Choi aims to move out both Cook, and the Royles, once he is in sole control of the club.

There is a £12 million transfer kitty for the January window.

If we are relegated to League One, Choi will look to sell the football club.

If we are relegated, this will put us in a dire position, financially, potentially in a precarious position, similar to how Bolton ended up. (Bolton were being kept afloat by the money from the hotel, that kept them afloat. We havent got that luxury)

Make of it all what you will.
