Can’t believe we’ve not sold out, league 1 Champions and a poor following its going to be lonely in that stand at least the queue for the bar will be small. I hope everyone had a wash out of a summer.
30 July 2016 at 1:30 pm #149668I’ll be at Haydock races, which is doubling up as a Birthday do for another ST holder and reasonably frequent ‘Away follower’ , many others I know are in Tenerife/Majorca/Ibiza etc
It used to start 3rd week of August when I were a lad !,….mind you that was when all the players wore Brylcreem and you might, just might get a booking if you pulled a knife on a troublesome winger (or certainly if you did it twice)
30 July 2016 at 2:16 pm #14966925 quid is excessive. Plus travel and food and drink. Expensive day for single fans never mind if families travel with youngsters.
A twenty pound limit should be compulsory on any ground including The Premier League.30 July 2016 at 10:28 pm #149684£25 pound isn’t much more than the average we paid last season so not much of an excuse. Wasn’t Blackpool away a similar price? Looks like the glory hunting day trippers can’t make this one..
Anybody know how many tickets we’ve sold for this one?31 July 2016 at 1:19 am #149687The kids have just broke up and many are on holiday so lets wait before we start banging on about away crowds eh?. I don’t think its fair to judge just yet when the first few weeks of the holidays are when the majority of people get away.
31 July 2016 at 2:15 am #149689What utter bollocks i know school holidays it just shows we are now a small fish in a rather very big pond other clubs will support their clubs in or out of season last year we had a lot of cling ons and it’s back to reality.

31 July 2016 at 3:56 am #149691Why don’t you take your fleebag for a walk or had it curled it’s toes…..

Did you go to the Hull v Wigan game on Friday dickhead?
Get on the “What an evening” thread and answer the questions you’ve been asked.Fuck the EFL

Some folk on here are very quick to criticise others for not attending games that are televised, games arranged at short-notice, games that are miles away in the evening etc, but then when it comes down to it they don’t actually attend cheaply priced games, and don’t even invest in a season ticket that would pay for itself if they committed to attending 9 fucking home games. Less than 600 tickets sold for Bristol City and less than 6000 season tickets sold is an absolute disgrace at that price.
31 July 2016 at 1:15 pm #149694Mutty, Where have you heard about ‘less than 6,000 Season Tickets’ ?
I’ve no idea whether that’s right or wrong but I wasn’t aware the club had said anything on the subject (although they may have??)
31 July 2016 at 1:20 pm #149695All a bit odd this obsession with how many other men watch an activity isn’t it? When I go to the pub I don’t think how many other blokes are in. Or when I take the kids to the cinema I don’t think ‘it’s a disgrace that only 30 turned up for ghost busters’. How can it be a ‘disgrace’ that 6000 people have bought season tickets to watch eleven blokes kick a ball around? Why does it matter if 200 go to Doncaster to watch a different sport? Seems to me both clubs have a similar following. Does it really matter?
If you like being in big crowds go and watch a bigger club. We ain’t one and never will be. Watched us with 1500 on, watched us with 20000 on. Did I enjoy it more with a bigger crowd on? No. Grow up!

Amen brother.
The Wigan Athletic story is made more remarkable because of small crowds ffs, constantly pissing off fans of clubs who pull in 40,000 plus and never win anything. Punching above our weight is our trademark and if people looked at the real reason why we can never get big crowds they would not see that it is a “rugby town” or other bullshit excuses but simply down to geography. We are smack bang in the middle of the biggest football hotbed in Britain competing with 4 of the biggest clubs in England all with history and massive fan bases. Many Wigan folk have been fans of these clubs since the sport was invented and are not gonna change because Latics do well. We will never ever get big crowds home or away but ask me if I would swap all the success at this amazing club for a big fan base and you will told where to shove it.
