The owners may make the decisions but without supporters they have no football club.
Stripping a club like Cardiff of its basic identity which is the home colours is a very very dangerous step and i totally agree with the superb post by Standish above.

Yes,but i dont see many cardiff fans willing to pay the 70mill plus debt and not want a penny back, and they are changing the colour because red is considerd lucky in the owners country

As others have said this is clearly wrong, insensitive, ignores tradition and is insulting to the fans.

However, he who pays the piper calls the tune and my very first reaction to this thread was that if I’d bought a football club and was expected to pay off it’s £70million debt then they would wear whatever I fckin told them to wear.

Like I said, the Cardiff fan I know aint bothered and he also confirmed today that all his mates he goes on with aint bothered either ! Just like the colour of ones skin it doesn’t really matter what colour you are or wear really does it ! If it means financial security for a club then their fans shouldn’t bother if they play in yellow polka dots ! I hate the tribal colours thing anyway its archaic in my view !

My problem with this is that it has jack shoite to do with football. In Malaysia red is deemed a prosperous colour so really there is no rational reason for Cardiff to change colour. Why didnt the investers buy into a club who already played in red. This smacks to me as yet another British club with crackpot foreign owners/investers.

You know some fickle fans Phil. Is this the Leyland CCFC supporters’ club?!

My mate (who came to the Newcastle game – for the posters on here who met him) used to play in goal for Cardiff. He thinks it’s an abomination that Cardiff are changing from Blue, and the very fact they are going to red with a dragon emblem is a sell-out to the Welsh RU team who they’re trying so hard to distance themselves from.

If football wasn’t tribal, we’d all support teams from other towns or even other countries…… ;)

He lives in Preston but comes from …wait for it ….Cardiff !! He isn’t fickle, he is 50 odd and supported them from being a kid ! Just like this set of fans on here, the Cardiff fans are split as well and this subject is no different ! Your mate thinks abomination my mate thinks not. Who is right ? If the fans were that bothered about it they would vote with their feet and revolt against the idea but I think you will find that they will eventually lie down and accept it ! We shall see !

If he’s 50 and comes from Cardiff it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not fickle.

I’d say a 50 year old bloke who lives in Pentwyn, who is a season ticket holder and used to play for the club is a pretty decent judge of feelings within Cardiff fans.

I refer you to the last line of my longer post:

‘So, if you’re a fan what do you do? Refuse to attend games, or protest at games until the owners make changes – knowing that your actions could be affecting the team’s performance on the pitch? And that’s the conundrum.’

Lie down and accept it because football is changing ! Whether fans like it or not it is changing ! Remember the all seater stadia no more standing rule causing uproar ? All died down and accepted ! Fans sat down then instead of lying down !!

                Official club statement excerpt !

“The changes to the home kit and badge introduced as a consequence of the investment package are designed to help the club to develop its brand and to allow it to expand its appeal to as wide an audience as possible, with a view to delivering local success via an international and diverse market. As a board, we believe these changes, in the light of the benefits that will be demonstrably delivered, have been or will be accepted by the vast majority of supporters as judged in the light of the numerous emails and letters of support, backed by recent poll results from the Supporters Club and Media Wales.

Maybe the club are telling porkies !! The board may be fickle even !! Either way who gives a shit ! We were calling em to fcuk not so long ago !!

I suppose to “lie down and accept it” is the attitude the current owners are hoping will prevail. Pity they didn’t want to change to an all white strip and call themselves Cardiff Swans. Now that would have been interesting!

It will prevail and going off the comments on one of their forums they are split down the middle but the anti change crew have not mentioned not backing the team !

Rugby league sold its soul for a lot less money than Cardiff and they seem to be doing ok! :pinch:
