Yip..I’d never have guessed that. More balloonheads support us pro rata than most EFL clubs…..keep singing!!!
4 November 2024 at 5:51 am #204190Look I want him to succeed I seriously do. I’ve supported every manager (bar Coyle) that’s walked through the glass doors but Maloney’s wearing my patience thin.
Were how far into the season and he still doesn’t know his best starting 11. There’s the constant wholesale chopping & changing game by game then when he realises that’s wrong he swaps out half the outfield players every game and normally within the hour.
I can tell you this, without Tickle right now we’d be well and truly fooked. He’s the difference between a mini cup campaign and keeping us in L1.
God forbid if he goes in Jan say to a stupid bid from a Championship side because if he goes so will our L1 status. Those brilliant points blank saves will start to creep in
4 November 2024 at 9:49 am #204191Just as Skeggy & Phoenix are “entitled” to happy clap as they sing the Baloney song; us hard core proper lifetime fans are “entitled” to voice our opinions & observations. So continue to play your fiddle whilst Rome burns.
Autocue: happy clappers
4 November 2024 at 12:01 pm #204193I’ve never once said you aren’t entitled to your opinion. Clearly I don’t have the same opinion and that’s fine because that’s football.
It’s the fact that people expect us to walk all over Carlisle and also teams in League One that is “entitled”
4 November 2024 at 12:03 pm #204194I reckon 41 years makes me a “hardcore proper lifetime fan” as well
4 November 2024 at 12:38 pm #204196Let’s have a touch of reality here.
Man City Vs Wigan – 2013 FA Cup final. I expected to get thrashed & humiliated. Is that entitled ? No, just reality !
Wigan Vs Canvey Island – FA Cup 1st round. I expected a comfortable win, as did the bookies odds. Was that entitled ? No, just reality ! However, I did pick up a nice little bundle of wedge after that game.
Wigan Vs Carlisle – FA Cup 1st round Nov 2024. I expected SM to use this game to kick start our season and rebuild some confidence amongst our team and the fans. Is that entitled ? No, just common sense and reality !
I think that Skeg’s use of “entitled” is definitely mis-placed.
A good explanation of entitlement is: feeling that you have the right to do or have what you want without having to work for it or deserve it, just because of who you are.
Now I guess that the majority of fans carry the same set of expectations as I do, when we look at our fixtures and assess where we should be winning games (as I expect SM would). That is not entitled. It is reality !
Winning those games comes with the physicality of hard work & endeavour, along with the Manager deploying a suitable strategy.A good example would be Mr Whelan. Now, he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth; but did you label him “entitled” when he declared that he would take Wigan all the way to the Premier league.

I go back to the non league ( 1965 my first game ) so what do I know ?
4 November 2024 at 6:10 pm #204202You even had the main stand named after you Phoenix mon.
Similar length of support as me. Had some great times and seen some great football. Seen some shit football too but this era is the worst football I can remember. Yes I do remember Swain and Joyce and yes they were shit but lately it’s topped their awful football because it’s just so bloody boring.
What has happened to our DNA? Our DNA was there a lot longer before Bobby came along.4 November 2024 at 6:31 pm #204203Our “original” DNA was to give every opposition a hell of a game !
Our genetically modified DNA is more like Do Not Attack, without permission

4 November 2024 at 6:40 pm #204205We won the tie Lostock
Bolton, Huddersfield, Rotherham, Shrewsbury and Wrexham all lost to lower league teams.
It’s got nothing to do with whether we should win or not. We could have played like Brazil on Saturday and lost the tie and there would have been a meltdown. Instead we play poorly for an hour but still go through and still there’s a meltdown
4 November 2024 at 7:01 pm #204206Skeg’s you are sweating the small stuff and missing the point that we have played poorly for the majority of the season so far!
Had Carlisle not been down to 10 men, I fear the result would not have gone in our favour. Had we lost, it probably would have been bye bye Maloney

What has happened to our DNA? Our DNA was there a lot longer before Bobby came along. We have been on a great journey Donny. There are not many fans who have watched their club from the non league to the Premier League , see them win the FA Cup and get to the League Cup final. I still love it but football has changed ( and not for the better ) . It’s the modern way and a lot of fans don’t like it . However, I am still thrilled when we win and gutted when we lose and will always be an enthusiastic fan of the club if that makes me a happy clapper so be it.I really can’t be arsed with all the negativity on here , it’s not for me.
4 November 2024 at 11:35 pm #204210Put it simply. We drew against a ten man, second bottom of the fourth division Carlisle side who had rested six players for the match. We only won because of the ridiculous and disgusting rule change on replays made by the FA.
