Unfortunatly if Whelan got rid of Martinez i would imagine that would seriously affect the kitty for the January window so i think were stuck with him until the end of the season at least.
Dont know how much it would cost but i should it would cost a few mill to get rid.
So if where stuck with him we have to get behind him although i dont think hes the man for the job.

Think he could take us forward. Would very much like to see him given a while. We won’t go down and he may sign some good uns in Jan.. You never know :)

wasn’t that what his supporters were saying this time 12 months ago ?

oh and the need to clear the deadwood that bruce had signed was mentioned as well

well the deadwood has gone and its now martinez’s men in place – so where is the improvement i keep being told of

The improvement is very slow. It may well result in relegation and if it does, that’s life. We have no god-given right to stay in this league forever, especially as the lowest payers and worst supported club.

west brom have spent less money and pay less than us -their chairman has a strict wages limit which he doesnt break and tell me blackpool pay more than us or indeed are better supported

how many of the small teams spent 6.5 million on one player in the summer- on one hand you say whelan is spending nothing then you claim when bickymon starts an anti whelan tirade you then say he spends loads-make your mind up.

the problems we have are not down to money, wages or crowds it is about a man who has introduced the most boring, unadventurous, mistake ridden, gutless football i have ever seen a wigan athletic side play – and the managers inability or arrogance to change when things are going pear shaped, and that includes some of the rubbish we have all seen over the years.

I cant see that West Brom pay less than us when Scharner goes there untill I see facts on that statement

Wolves spent £7 million on Steve Fletcher and are three points worse than we are

about a man who has introduced the most boring, unadventurous, mistake ridden, gutless football i have ever seen a wigan athletic side

I have actually seen worse than this in the nineties

its monday today perhaps you can disagree with that statement i have made – seeing it seems to be your sole purpose on here.

I was just answering your comments on the previous post that is all and talking about Wolves they have spent in the region of £15 million this season Birmingham spent £6 million on a beanpole striker and are they any better off than us ?

The stats you quote are for newly promoted teams, not teams who have been in this league for the number of years we have. The official stats over the last 8 years say differently: http://www.transferleague.co.uk

6 seasons in the premier league is an amazing achievement for a club that can only average 12,000 home fans FFS. Do some of you expect to be here in another 6 years when attendances are so low? You must be deluded!

no but are their managers turning fans off by the hundred because of the dross on offer-

i’m not talking about JCL’s here,i’m talking about life long season ticket holders of many years who find it a chore going to games any more -i know of a least 4 season ticket holders that chose to watch the game on tv yesterday -the reduced attendance figures speak volumes – cheapest in the league, people still dont go people who have paid up front dont bother, local schools dishing out freebies, but nobody wants them and when you take up an offer for a cheap ticket for somebody to accompany a season ticket holder ask that same person next time – they dont want to know
the club says it is making pro-active efforts to increase the gates, they have discussed with leaders of the fanzines inventive ways to do it – i wonder if any of the boffins on the case have dared to suggest to whelan -perhaps if we tried to play with a little more ambition than 4 defenders and 3 defending midfielders and get peoples bums off their seats now and again -a few more bodies would come through the gates,it is not coincidence that we are the lowest scorers in the league.
