always said i dont trust whelan ,having worked for him ,too tight to spend but i think he as lost all ambition he must be very annoyed with the wigan public for not turning out,but it works both ways selling your best players does not send good vibes out to the public ,but end of the day only whelan knows what he is planning for .

The Championship!!!!!!! With a squad of cheap buys on shite wages so as not to eat into his parachute payments to much.

And you know he will blame us the fans for not supporting the club for the reason for selling all our best players and eventually relegation.

I’m a season ticket holder and was long before we got in the Premier League but even I am finding it hard to get excited about how the team and club are being run. He sells all our assets and replaces them with cheap options the man on the streets ain’t gonna pay good money to watch that and surprise there not.

Our crowds this year will be an embarrassment and the only one to blame is our beloved chairman DW.

you are right ,think he as took us as far as he can ,and is now raking in whatever he can before he sells up ,but those that are blinkerd cant see it, i remember bill kenyon selling our top players then left us ,also i think we will get one or two games with below 15,000 on this season

The way things are going against Fulham we will be lucky to get 10000 cause they never bring any and the people of Wigan wont go with the way the club is being run.

Against Wolves we had 16000 and they brought over 4000 that means just over 12000 Wiganers and that was the first home game and after the Villa win.

why cant whelan stand up and say ive took the club as far as i can ,now its time to hand it over to anyone who can make a decent offer and in the interest of the club and fans ,before we end up back in the championship………and before anyone starts crying ive nothing against whelan and i know but for him we would not be here , but i know many that are staying away because of him, now is the time for change before its too late.

I’m no fan of Whelan’s, but if he’s planning to sell then:

                    – why exactly would he prepare for life in the Championship run his only true nest egg into the ground…cos the club would be worth less
                    – why would he spend £2m on Martinez when he could have used it to line his coffers
                    – why would he let Cattermole go on the cheap
                    – why would he give the naming rights of the stadium to himself instead of getting cash in for that too

Despite his faults, he is a shrewd businessman, and despite all his crap and our worries before we are still here 5 years later.

That said, why would he spend money on and choose an allebit yet unproven manager as Bruce’s successor.
And dont tell me thatit’s all down to Whelan is telling Martinez to buy cheap from the Championship. If that was the why would we be spending £4m on Moses (yes £4m is still a lot of money).

What I don’t get is why is Martinez not looking at any proven premiership players to give us that experience and leadership we are currently missing (tip of the hat to notapatchon’s log)?
Two of Jewell’s master stokes when our defence and team needed experience and leadership were getting Harry back days before we began life in the Prem and in season 2 signing Unsworth . That’s what Bob needs to give us now. If Scharner had any nous he’d be putting himself forward for both.

Sol Campbell’s not got a club. I’d sign him, AND Dystan. Or someone like Luke Young and then if you start Edman as well, you’d have some real qualigty in your back line.

                            Exactly.

I think our club is docile, sometimes.
