At least his interviews actually make sense unlike Martinez’s waffling.
Saying that, I spotted one mistake in his interview. The part were he said “I can’t wait for pre season and get to work with the players”.
Its player not players
18 June 2013 at 2:23 am #116453I think it’s time to bury the hatchet with Coyle. The decision is made and we need to judge him on his own merits. None of which any of us have a clue about yet if we are honest. He got an average Burnley up, Did well in Scotland, And took a poison chalice at Bolton who have had crippling debts for a good few years that were kept out of the public domain. This job Coyle has taken is by far and away the best opportunity he has had at any club to prove what he can do. He has the players and in this division he will have the funds.

I don’t know any sane poster who possesses one. I suppose Dave Whelan could have tried to hijack the Chelsea/Jose Mourinho deal to appease the darkside – tight git. ;)

If anyone (preferably sane) on here does have a hatchet I would appreciate if they would lend it me.
I tried to uproot a plant in the front garden and snapped my spade.
I suspect it requires something with a bit more bite to finish the job.
18 June 2013 at 3:37 am #116460Coyle……..Roberto is a very good manager, but i have come up against him 8 times as a manager and lost once,i am confident in my own abbillity
Its a fair point.[/quote]
Oh dear, Owen, it rather casts doubt on your ability to count!
I make it played 9, won 3, drawn 4, lost 2 – not much difference between them after all.
2009/10
1. 24 October 2009 Burnley 1 Wigan 3
2. 17 February 2010 Wigan 0 Bolton 0
3. 13 March 2010 Bolton 4 Wigan 0
2010/11
4. 23 October 2010 Wigan 1 Bolton 1
5. 5 January 2011 Bolton 1 Wigan 1
6. FA Cup 29 January 2011 Bolton 0 Wigan 0
7. Replay 16 February Wigan 0 Bolton 1
2011/12
8. 15 October 2011 Wigan 1 Bolton 3
9. 11 February 2012 Bolton 1 Wigan 2Played 9, won Coyle 3, drawn 4, won Martinez 2
Remember, Owen, there are eleven players in a team!
18 June 2013 at 2:03 pm #116472He must have meant as Bolton manager, give him the benefit, still comes out on top of Saint Roberto of the coveted passback .

And for the record, there will be passing backwards and sideways under Coyle; maybe not so much when under pressure at the back, but he does get his teams passing,
18 June 2013 at 2:51 pm #116480“At least his interviews actually make sense unlike Martinez’s waffling.”
Coyle was trying to put a spin on the results. If you consider just the Premier League matches, they actually come out even. And that’s what he should have said, “We’ve come out pretty even in matches against each other.”
So it’s not so much; Coyle…can’t be any worse than the last 4 seasons. It’s more; Coyle…more of the same.
And Roberto wasn’t so much in favour of the back pass as against the big boot forward.
But Roberto’s gone. Can we please stop looking back now and start looking forward. Tomorrow’s fixture list should give us something new to think about. I expect we’ll get a local derby over Christmas and the new year – it could be Bolton.

So Coyle was only talking about the Bolton and Wigan games. It’s odd that he overlooked Burnley’s first home defeat in their Premier League season.
20 June 2013 at 7:53 pm #116664I think I may be going down to New Springfield a lot more this season. There is certainly much more to look forward to this coming season. Like wins for one thing and hopefully something more than a relegation struggle.
The football should also be an improvement, surely without the tippy tappy in defence rubbish and the one up front garbage. Lets hope Owen gets all that drivel changed.20 June 2013 at 8:01 pm #116665The football should also be an improvement, surely without the tippy tappy in defence rubbish and the one up front garbage. Lets hope Owen gets all that drivel changed. In your opinion, of course

Hope you found your journey in the Delorean pleasant enough.
20 June 2013 at 8:54 pm #116670If Maloney, Kone and Mcmanman all stay then surely it would be silly to mess with that front line that seems to work very well and will probably work even better in the championship?
If we lose say Kone and Maloney or any combination out of the three then I am all for switching to a front 2 or whatever Coyle see’s fit.

Like wins for one thing and hopefully something more than a relegation struggle. And we won’t have to endure those overpaid dilettantes representing Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur…
Show us how we ought to play, Owen. It’s all yours!
25 January 2015 at 2:14 pm #138643Can it? Surely not.
Apart from the odd game..pretty poor and boreing football with one up front. Hardly any wins. Terrible at home and very negative with tippy tappy football going backwards. One or two bright spells at the end of seasons when we went positive through shear desperation. Surely it can not be any worse under this new mon or can it?
