I hate all this ‘I won’t be renewing my season ticket’ bollocks!
You support Wigan Athletic, not the manager. Regardless of who manages the team, plays for the team, etc they come and go. We as fans are the ones who will stay regardless and be here till the end.
I would expect it from a kid but grown men saying that’s it, I’m not going again. Grow up and give your head a wobble.
14 June 2013 at 4:13 pm #116090The only source I’ve seen for this by the way is BBC. Anyone seen any other confirmation?http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/wigan-appoint-owen-coyle-next-1952337

14 June 2013 at 4:17 pm #116096its 1st april right ?
14 June 2013 at 4:17 pm #116097Absolute disaster.I will not be renewing my season ticket. Players will want to leave and he will not be able to attract the right players. Just wait for the Burnley and Bolton rejects.Go and watch someone else then.
I will be renwing mine and I would have regardless who Whelan may have brought in. Now’s the time to get behind the team AND the manager, I know I will.
14 June 2013 at 4:21 pm #116098Other thing is, Coyle just won’t get the time Martinez had to rebuild and the fans will get on his back more than was the case for Roberto.
Has to be a money thing because if you have Coyle and Mclaren then Mclaren wins in every department. Experience, trophy’s, connections, European football.
Mclaren would have cost more i should imagine whereas this is possibly the best job Owen Coyle was ever going to get and would be glad to be on any kind of salary.
Will have to wait and see. At least now it’s done we can get behind him. That’s the only option.
14 June 2013 at 4:24 pm #116100Bollocks but I’ll be their in Azerbaijan
14 June 2013 at 4:25 pm #116101Some interesting statistics:
Coyle – games as manager 331, won 139, drawn 75, lost 117 – winning percentage 41.99%
Roberto – games 301, won 114, drawn 84, lost 104 – winning percentage 37.87%
14 June 2013 at 4:27 pm #116103at least it paves the way for the return of Martinez for our assault on the League One title in 2015/2016
14 June 2013 at 4:28 pm #116104Some interesting statistics:Coyle – games as manager 331, won 139, drawn 75, lost 117 – winning percentage 41.99%
Roberto – games 301, won 114, drawn 84, lost 104 – winning percentage 37.87%
yep but digging deeper into that, his win ratio is decreasing year on year …. 63% with Falkirk, 51% with St Johnstone, 42% with Burnley and 33% with Bolton ….. mmmmmmm
not my choice, but lets see what happens before we start giving him stick ….. I am more concerned about the 12 month rolling contract … that is NOT the way to build a club or team. Its the financial easy way out, which is always Whelans way unfortunately …. time for the old lad to hand over the reigns I think.
14 June 2013 at 4:28 pm #116106If he wins his first 5-6 matches and gets us out the group stages he’ll be a fans favorite.
I’m behind him but a 1 yr rolling contract which is full of bonuses related payments makes it look like its “get your finger out or up the road”.
If he doesn’t do well he’ll be gone and one of the 2-3 shortlisted candidates will be instantly installed.
14 June 2013 at 4:29 pm #116107good grief , i feel a half man half biscuit song coming on
14 June 2013 at 4:32 pm #116110People stand entitled to their opinion, I being one of them and it will be the first time in 30 years, through the thick and thin (some of you ex scouser/mancs commenting won’t know what that is will you?) including a season ticket when Kenny Swain was in charge, that I will feel the need to voice my opinion through not walking through those turnstiles.
All of the good feeling from the end of last season and looking forward to everything this one brings bolloxed in one horrible managerial appointment.
Gutted tbh.
14 June 2013 at 4:33 pm #116112Not who I was hoping for but lets not destroy the man before we’ve even kicked a ball under his management, time to get behind Wigan Athletic and that includes Coyle.
14 June 2013 at 4:34 pm #116113I couldn’t agree more
