My one hate with Coyle was , when he was at Bolton and was been interviewed on TV he would be asked a serious question say “Can you keep Bolton in the Premiership ?” , he would reply for the best part of the interview with a serious face and make sense but then right at the end he would give a sarcastic snigger !!,like a tick really feckin annoying.

An appointment that dosn’t whet my appetite, but I’ll reserve judgement about coyle by the number of players that depart and the quality that he brings in.

That’ll give us an idea of where we’ll be heading. Lord help him if it’s not going right after 10 games or so though.

The proof will be in the pudding and no one has tasted or seen the pudding.

Wait till you try a little bit of the pudding and then you can have an opinion.

            I love pudding.

It’s interesting that people are concerned about two things – 1 year rolling contract and players leaving!

In answer to the first concern Roberto was on a one year rolling contract (hence the compensation claim from Everton) – so Coyle is no different in that respect.

As for the second, only tweet I’ve seen so far is from James McArthur who is very positive about the appointment!

Let’s wait and see what happens shall we? We might all be in for a surprise!

Somewhat underwhelmed admittedly, but will be going (as always) and hoping for the best .

Dummy spitting and “I’m not going then” …..get over yourselves boys…..If he doesn’t work out, he’ll be flirted and without the need to shell out millions in compensation. Roll on August and let’s see where it takes us.

People stand entitled to their opinion, I being one of them and it will be the first time in 30 years, through the thick and thin (some of you ex scouser/mancs commenting won’t know what that is will you?) including a season ticket when Kenny Swain was in charge, that I will feel the need to voice my opinion through not walking through those turnstiles.

All of the good feeling from the end of last season and looking forward to everything this one brings bolloxed in one horrible managerial appointment.

                Gutted tbh.

                I’m intrigued.

Why do you hate him so much? What has he done to you or Wiganers in general to make you not want to renew your season ticket?

I cant remember a time where we appointed a manager which the majority didn’t approve. I think this is a terrible appointment on the basis that I can’t see him attracting the type of player to play our brand of football, which is disappointing because we spent 3 hard seasons adapting to the new style…only to be re-adapted to another style (very direct). The only silver lining I see is…..well, I cant!

Poor, Poor decision in my opinion.

But I thought everyone on here thought our style was faffing about and that we need to play more direct? Didn’t they?

I’ll also add: Don’t judge comments on here as representing the majority. Previous managerial appointments pre-Roberto were made when message board activity was low. I don’t remember huge celebrations when Kenny Swain, John Benson, Bruce Rioch and Steve Bruce (second time) were appointed.

                  Agree completely.

Some of the Bolton players commented on Dougie Freedman in the fact that since he took charge they were more tactically aware of how to play football.

They also talked about the more specialised training sessions and the sports science Freedman had implemented in regards to treating injuries.

Does he remind you of anyone?

How will the players react to the flipside of that story? He will be talking to players who have spent the last 4+ years working on game to game tactics to the finest detail.

I fear if he comes in and looks tactically naive to the players he will lose the respect of the dressing room very quickly.

Did he? He may have said that was what he was trying to do but if he did he certainly failed in an abysmal fashion.
