Had a cracking season for the Posh; Ferguson was resigned to losing him this summer and it seems that a few other PL teams are interested (I would imagine a couple of the promoted teams have put offers forward).
One positive should be that he should adjust far better than Boselli and Di Santo, but you also have to remember that the 35 goals he scored last season were against League 1 standard teams…
scotland,di santo, bosseli have all been bad signings not a clue in front of goal the lot of them :naughty: , so fingers crossed that this lad can do it massive step up for him more importantly we should be looking at getting another centre half in chuckle caldwell not up too it in prem think we will struggle again if centre half not signed
The only time I’ve ever seen the bloke play a full game was the play off final last week & to be honest he didn’t impress me all that much – certainly if viewed in the sense of whether he’d be good enough for the top flight.
His touch & control were poor at times & he didn’t seem overly blessed with pace. On top of that he looked like a poacher as opposed to someone capable of playing up front on his todd as he’s liable to have to do if he joins Latics
Looked like a good lower league/championship striker but not someone who seems to have that extra bit about him to be a success in the top flight
Adrian Durham… another clueless idiot. Regards Mackail-Smith I do not rate him at all, granted he scores goals at League 1 level many players have and not been able to do it in the Premier League. A few seasons back i’m sure he was behind a certain Aaron Mclean whos now at Hull who really hasn’t set the championship alight.
bent and zamora were lower league players and perhaps ellington could be given a mention as well – didnt ian rush start at chester or wasnt john aldridge a bit of a journeyman at loer league clubs before liverpool signed him – teddy sherringham did the lower league apprenticeship and stan collymore learned how to use his feet down there (his perchant for using his hands beating women was probably a birth defect)
lots and lots of lower league players have made it before the easy boring route of cheap foreigners became the norm – now clubs are perhaps realising the foreign johnies are not all that they thought and are becoming more and more expensive for poor players
we may now all start giving lower league players the chance and encouragement to develop.
remember one thing we have to take chances on this type of player either from this country or abroad as it is the only way wigan athletic will survive in the big league.
