I’m far from a blind lightsider, but some of you lot on here really need to change the record. You’re calling for the managers head after a defeat to Liverpool ended a pretty decent run of form. Yes, we got battered, but it was against LIVERPOOL! What do you seriously expect?! There’s been a lot of ‘facts’ (haha) branded about on here recently, so here’s another one for the darkside. Wigan have only lost by more than one goal against the following teams: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Manchester City. Hardly a disgraceful statistic and shows that we are not losing badly to lower and mid-table teams. Hardy a sign that our tactics aren’t working.

The point to this? We certainly haven’t had much luck this season, had a number of decisions go against us and had injuries galore. Despite all of this, we are still above the relegation zone. A much better position than what we normally find ourselves in at this stage of the season. I remember how there was even a darkside element when Paul Jewell took us up the leagues in our most successful spell the club has ever had. God only knows what it will be like on here when we end up in the lower leagues!

It will be a happier place because we will be on a more level playing surface ! If you thought that the manner in which we played on Saturday was acceptable then all I can say is that you are easily pleased my friend !

Nope, we were battered, but that has only happened against the above 5 teams this season. I’d be more worried if we were getting battered by QPR and the like.

Correct Phylis seems to be taking over the leadership of the darkside since the demise of lmb the mans not on the same level

I’d take that as a complimet re: LMB that guy was a moron

However you have been very pro dark side recently Phil.

Another u turn could be on the cards for you once Roberto masterminds his 4th season in the PL.

Dont worry you will once again be welcomed with open arms ( very forgiving the lightside)

When does “that pretty decent run of form” you talk about take place, do you mean getting the runaround at home to 3rd division Bournemouth and scraping an undeserved draw, 2 less than inspiring FA cup wins in the return against Bournemouth and then at non league Macclesfield, the calamitous defensive showing against Sunderland, being out played and managing to fluke a last minute equaliser v Southampton or the capitulation to a poor, off form, trouble riddled, out of form Chelsea side.

                      You claim
“Wigan have only lost by more than one goal against the following teams: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Manchester City”

You are quite correct but we have conceded 25 goals in the 8 games against those sides scoring 1 in return.

You then ask “What do seriously expect” ?

Well I for one don’t expect defending the like of which we have seen this season.
I don’t expect to see Stuart Downing to score probably the only headed goal he ever has scored with Caldwell and Figeuroa either side of him ball watching.
I don’t expect to see Johnson leaving five players on their arses without one making a tackle in the lead up to Liverpool 4th goal.

Saturday was the epitome of everything that is wrong with us this season, shocking defending that has seen us concede the most goals in the PL, losing more games than any other team in the league, achieving the lowest points total at home.

To answer your question “What do seriously expect” ?

I expect that the fundamental problems that everyone else sees, apart from one person it seems, are addressed and sadly, despite this issue being glaringly obvious since day one nothing it seems is being done about it.

Before the ‘DARKSIDE’ accusations start to fly in my direction, let me nail my colours to the mast, I AM NEITHER LIGHTSIDE OR DARKSIDE, I am a supporter frustrated by the defensive failings of WAFC.

If we survive it will be in spite of him and not because of him .2 home wins (only Qpr with 1 worse),most goals conceded at home and you think thats a measure of success ? I hope i’m wrong but no doubt if we get relegated you’ll be posting Well done Roberto then. With home form like that can you wonder why people staying away .Failed with a capital F.

                          Brilliant!

I was wondering who would be first to come out with that nugget this season.

So if we go down it’s Martinez’s fault, but if we stay up it’s despite Martinez.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

The Form – 2013 prior to the Liverpool game = W4, D4, L3. Not the sign of a bad team.

The Claim – Yes, you have reinterrated exactly what my point was. We lost badly (i.e. by me saying by more than one goal) to the above five teams. I didn’t say that we played well in any of these games, but at lease we are getting points from the lower teams, which is what will keep us in this league.

Obviosuly we’re not going to agree, but the silence has been absolutely deafening from the darkside recently with 3-0 and 4-1 victories. I think half the reason why there’s been so much complaint on here since Liverpool is because, dare I say, the darkside began to get a little faith in the team again. Decent form and a cup run and all of a sudden there was talk on here about us being able to beat Liverpool. Then, when we get thrashed, that vain amount of hope disolves and we are back to square one again.
