4 March 2013 at 11:11 pm #104424The league table tells me we are not fairing too well thus far !
Funny that, when I look at the table it tells me we are exactly where we aim to be.
Outside of the bottom three.

This is almost as bad as trying to convince the chubsters that we get better crowds than they do.
I’ll write this nice and slow so the D/S can perhaps understand it a bit better.

From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!4 March 2013 at 11:37 pm #104428AnonymousLet me just remind you what you said in your opening post.“There’s been a lot of ‘facts‘ (haha) branded about on here recently, so here’s another one for the darkside. Wigan have only lost by more than one goal against the following teams: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Manchester City. Hardly a disgraceful statistic and shows that we are not losing badly to lower and mid-table teams. Hardy a sign that our tactics aren’t working.”
Even if we were to get wins home and away against these sides(which we haven’t) it would only lead to having 24 points, we have 14 at the moment with the possible total being 20 points.
Lets forget about the bottom 4 sides, you also say “we are not losing badly to mid table sides”, as I said in my post we have achieved 6 points from 9 games and a posssible 27 points against the mid table sides, it could be said we are not losing badly, but it does show we are losing alot.
20 points out of 24 sounds pretty good to me.
I have never said that we haven’t lost a lot of games, particularly when we went through our worse spell, arguably due to injuries and poor decisions. The saving grace is that the vast majority of these defeats to the mid-table teams that you mention were only negative deficits of just one goal. My argument is that now we are performing better, those type of results would more likely become draws and the draws become victories. As has been said, the season ends in May and it’s unfair to judge now because we did go through a very bad period.
5 March 2013 at 12:20 am #104432Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t for one minute think that we would beat Liverpool in their current form but the manner in which they battered us concerned me, especially the defensive frailties and the bickering ! Our keeper is having a nightmare season and has made far too many errors and the back line whatever formation they are put in are all over the shop. Not the ideal situation for a relegation dogfight really is it !
