He has been a train wreck waiting to happen for 21/2 seasons and I for 1 dont find his football entertaining and his obsession with everything Barcelona tedious.Which part of the previous statement do you struggle with.If we stay up it will because there are unbelievably 3 teams more Cack than us and not because of a managerial masterclass. One question you Robbie love children still have not answered this season,so i’ll try once more. After our amazing finish to last season and the promise of things to come then why have we not got within a million miles of that standard and are in the s##t yet again.???

If we survive it will be in spite of him and not because of him

Most stupid comment for the last four seasons from mr Balloon head

Obviosuly we’re not going to agree, but the silence has been absolutely deafening from the darkside recently with 3-0 and 4-1 victories. I think half the reason why there’s been so much complaint on here since Liverpool is because, dare I say, the darkside began to get a little faith in the team again. Decent form and a cup run and all of a sudden there was talk on here about us being able to beat Liverpool. Then, when we get thrashed, that vain amount of hope disolves and we are back to square one again.

          Okay I’ll humour you:

          1. YOU don’t find his brand of football entertaining. What, never? I prefer his brand of football to Bruce or Jewell’s so we’ll always disagree.

          2. How do you know he’s obsessed with Barcelona? Just because he wants use to keep the ball on the ground and retain possession. There are plenty of teams apart from Barcelona who do that and our formation is more akin to an Italian team than Barcelona.

          3. The part of the previous statement I struggle with is the rationale that if we go down Martinez is to blame, but if we stay up it’s despite him. Basically it means he warrants no merit in your eyes no matter what he does. And you accuse the likes of me of being blinkered?

          4. Of course we’ll stay up because three teams are more ‘cack’ than us. That’s how relegation works.

          5. ‘Bobby’s love child’? Doubt it. I’m older than him. Has he been boning your wife or something – hence the hatred? (One childish comment deserves another)

          6. I don’t know why we haven’t kicked on from last season. There may be many reasons and if I could out my finger on the definitive answer I’d be a football manager.

Good fair answers ,I do like the answer to question 6.Try the answer that he may not be the fantastic tactical manager you thought he was .

When have I ever said he was a ‘fantastic tactical manager’?

I’ve never claimed anything of the sort.

I think he’s done fantastic things for this football club in terms of its onfield perception and advances in youth development, but I’ve never considered him a tactical genius – far from it.

And that’s what the ‘darkside’ fail to comprehend. Many of us recognise the faults but don’t let it cloud our judgement of the positives.

The Form – 2013 prior to the Liverpool game = W4, D4, L3. Not the sign of a bad team.

The Claim – Yes, you have reinterrated exactly what my point was. We lost badly (i.e. by me saying by more than one goal) to the above five teams. I didn’t say that we played well in any of these games, but at lease we are getting points from the lower teams, which is what will keep us in this league.

Obviosuly we’re not going to agree, but the silence has been absolutely deafening from the darkside recently with 3-0 and 4-1 victories. Then, when we get thrashed, that vain amount of hope disolves and we are back to square one again.

For christs sake 3 of those 4 victories you high light were against Huddersfield, who every team since have tonked, 3rd division Bournemouth, and non league Macclesfield, we were hammered by both sunderland and southampton and managed 1 point from 6, please dont make out those results are good form.

You claim we are getting points from the lower teams we have got 6 points from Reading, 4-Southampton, 3-Villa and 1-QPR a grand total of 14 points.
The other 6 teams just above our mini group who could be dragged into the relegation threatened group, Sunderland, Newcastle, Norwich, West Ham, Fulham & Stoke, teams that we need to get points from we have managed just 1 win and 3 draws,6 points from a possible 27 on offer so far.

“but at lease we are getting points from the lower teams, which is what will keep us in this league”.

Out of the 10 bottom teams (upto Fulham in 10th place) we have played 15 games and from the 45 points available we have managed 20 points a return of 1.33 points per game, hardly outstanding form.
What is even worse we have managed only 4 points from 13 games against teams in the top 9, average 0.307 points per game.

We have 5 games left against both the ‘lower’ teams and the ‘top 9’ teams based on the points so far a dramatic improvement in points return is needed, as we all know, and for that a dramatic improvement on organising our defence is imperative.

Oh my god, talk about using statistics to suit you!

As you’ve picked apart our victories, let’s look at our 3 loses of 2013: Chelsea, Manchester United and Sunderland by a single goal. Oh no, it’s disgraceful that now Liverpool have joined that group of amateurs!

You say “we have got 6 points from Reading, 4-Southampton, 3-Villa and 1-QPR”. How is this bad? I said we were picking up points from poorer teams, and surely this proves it? We’ve only played Villa once (who we tonked 3-0) and also still have to play QPR again. That means that we get an average of more than 2 points of these 4 teams! How can you possibly turn this fact around and tell me that it just isn’t good enough?

To be quite honest, I can’t be bothered researching your last statistics as I have much better things to do with my time. However, even if I do take this as being true, even that sort of form would more than likely keep us in this league. Taking into account that our form is now much better than at the start of the season when we started picking up injuries and had a few crucial bad decisions, chances are we are staying up and thus Martinez has done his job.

What’s with the waxing lyrical over beating a side languishing in 19th place of The Championship with a goal difference of -25 ( Far far worse than any other side in that division ) As for beating Reading, it was a good workman like display and positives were indeed taken from it but come on, it was Reading who are no World beaters ( See league table ! ) If we can knock 2 or 3 past Newcastle, Norwich and QPR respectively and beat them then the waxing lyrical will be well justified ! Remember, One swallow doesn’t make a Summer !

Let me just remind you what you said in your opening post.

“There’s been a lot of ‘facts‘ (haha) branded about on here recently, so here’s another one for the darkside. Wigan have only lost by more than one goal against the following teams: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle and Manchester City. Hardly a disgraceful statistic and shows that we are not losing badly to lower and mid-table teams. Hardy a sign that our tactics aren’t working.”

Even if we were to get wins home and away against these sides(which we haven’t) it would only lead to having 24 points, we have 14 at the moment with the possible total being 20 points.

Lets forget about the bottom 4 sides, you also say “we are not losing badly to mid table sides”, as I said in my post we have achieved 6 points from 9 games and a posssible 27 points against the mid table sides, it could be said we are not losing badly, but it does show we are losing alot.

I suggest as you already haven’t you get used to it while we are in this division.

                          Theres a good boy.
