but looking very bad now, think the players are lacking confidence and some real awfull passing
relegation a certainty with this woefull squad

no wind up just honest assumption of a poor squad we have

Shame it seems to be going that way. For me enoughh is enough. 3 years in and we still dont appear to be a team going anywhere but down. Martinez has built his team and they dont appear to be able to cope. I suspect we will get very little out if the festive period.

Time to step down bob…. As much i hate to say it.

Agree 100%. We look a beaten team before the Kick Off these days…No Fight, No Enthusiasm, no doubt R.M. will find some positives. But you know what’s coming now… “YOUR’E NOT A TRUE SUPPORTER”

The way this season is panning out again is predictable. This should have been addressed in the summer. The manager spent weeks sipping cocktails with Liverpool then swanning around on TV at the Euros and not where he should have been at home planning to see how he could improve tbings after his first three appalling seasons.Or maybe not appalling if just staying up is the thing to do these days.
The squad was weakened with senior players leaving and no real class brought in.
This is probably the price that is payed to be a solvent club these days.
Stay up in comfort but stay up with massive debts. This seems to be the way of others.
          True

Bob is a Latics icon. A hero as a player and a hero with those survival performances and for keeping Latics in this league of greed and cheats but unfortunately for Bob progression in this
corrupt league is about hard cash and the resources that brings.
Whelan as allways is cautious with the money and why shouldnt he be..its his money and club.
Its sad that sixty or so million from sky just about pays the wages and that to me stinks.
            It stinks bad.
This is also the crux of why Bob has to struggle with probably the weakest squad Latics have had in ten years and there is not much we or Bob can do about that unless there is a bit of gambling with the war chest in January.
Think that chest got lost in a pantomine of treasure island at Wiggin Little Theatre one winter.

Agree wholeheartedly with what’s already been said…….

….but if he stepped down or was sacked, who is there who you would look at replacing him? Not an abundance of managers available, is there?

Over the past few weeks we’ve been very unlucky with injuries and suspensions. That said, the manager should allow for this. Of late, we’ve been really down to bare bones, so much so we had to recall Golobart from his loand spell at Tranmere, even though he’s probably not even up to Premiership standard yet. That was very desperate.

Are the players BEHIND Roberto? They would undoubtedly say so. But yes, like people have said, we’re in our 4th season under Martinez, and for me, we are going backwards.

It’s true when people look at the players we’ve sold/let go, and the fact that slowly but surely, the decline in class is actually telling. Personally, I don’t think McDermott at Reading will last the season, and if we carry on as we are, neither should Martinez. Nice guy, club hero, decent bloke. But it’s the old cliché that it’s a results business.

Talking about the prospect of relegation the other night, and it was universally agreed that the likes of McCarthy, McArthur, Di Santo etc will be straight out of the club. However, Di Santo can go now for me, as he’s useless. I don’t think Kone will be here whatever next season, as I think he realises he’s better than the players he’s playing with. I think his body language suggests he is ‘cheesed off’ already.

Sinking like a f**kin brick, we are. :(

Have to say though, yes, of course I will be pleased if we stay up with a late run in….but why will it take that again? Are the players robbing money off the club between August and February? I’m fed up of these miracle survivals. The players are obviously capable of performing better than they are doing….but why don’t they do it ALL of the season?

You’d have to ask the manager….as it’s his job to motivate them to perform.

EDIT: I think this current squad of ours would struggle to make the top half of the Championship, in all honesty.

The galling part is WE HAVE SPENT money but on Rubbish Players i.e. £6 million for Boselli. It’s well known that, that is the reason John Benson left the club, as he advised Bob not to buy him as he wasn’t Premier League standard. I think J.B. knew a lot more about English football than Martinez did.

yes we spent 6m on boselli SO WHY NOT BLOODY PLAY HIM THEN martinez must have thought somthing about him to give him a second chance and still chooses to have him sat on the bench with ten minutes here and there at the end of games

Yeah, I agree. Yet some of the muppets who follow us openly spat hatred at Benson and sided with Roberto….probably based on the fact that he came over here in 1995 all smiles and “we are de 3 amigios!” and all that. Too many of our supporters, in my opinion, can’t see beyond all the ‘3 amigos’ and ‘lovely bloke’ stuff.

Fact is, we’re shit. And getting shitter. Time to stop messing about and get it sorted. I’m not arsed if RM and all the backroom staff go, as they are obviously struggling to do their jobs on behalf of WAFC. I’m not saying they’re not trying, but it’s not working. Martinez has signed players that have let him down. Boselli, especially. £6 million on him? Dear god! I never thought we’d top the money we wasted on Aghahowa. But my god, Martinez has managed it.

Ok then, as I am struggling to think of someone, lets have a few names of suggested replacements. I will start off with…..

Mark Hughes. I genuinely believe he’s a good manager, he was at Blackburn, anyway. Can’t think of any other options of out of work managers. (Within reality-I.E. Not a chance of Di Matteo….mind you, if you don’t ask….) :)

Hasn’t Camara got the most goals in a season for us? Was it the first season?

I believe Roberts was our best overall centre forward at this level, for all he gave us and how tough he was to defend against. Since he went, we’ve had Heskey-not good enough, Aghahowa-not good enough, Moreno-useless, Mido-useless, Zaki-Started off great but a rubbish attitude, Di Santo-not good enough, Boselli-not good enough.

If you’d told me a few years ago we would have an Argentinian international centre-forward, I would’ve laughed at you. But the thing is, when we DID get one (Di Santo), he is probably the worst Argentinian international striker ever!

Had he led the invasion of the Falklands in 1982, he would’ve ended up miles off target and hit the Isle Of Man instead!
