He played against Bulgaria four days after, and started against West Ham the following weekend. And the surgery that ended his career was on the other knee.

The difference here for me is that bad tackles & even elbows (within some kind of reason) are an accepted part of the game & everyone who steps out on to a football field knows there is some risk of that happening however deliberately or not it occurs
But biting????? No, nay, never as they say in Burnley. It shows an person completely lacking the necessary self-control to behave like an adult in general and on a football field in particular. Add it to the fact that he’s already done it to someone else before & clearly hasn’t learnt his lesson then the second punishment is quite rightly more severe – if you get jailed for an offence & upon release commit the same offence again & get caught then your second sentence will be more severe

And congratulations to John Doe for correcting the incorrect statement about Roy Keane ending haaland’s career when (as bad & deliberate as that was) it had nothin to do with why he stopped playing

Have to correct you there. Blackburn may well sing “Wild Rover” but Burnley sing their own version which runs along the lines of “No, nay, never. No, nay, never, no more. Till we play the B—–d Rovers. No, nay, never, no more”

Fair play , I didnt even know that it was a different knee to be honest and had it in my head Keane settled out of court after he admitted in his book he set out to injure him so fook knows where I got that from.

Suprising really because in my social and work circles Man Utd could resurrect Hitler and be seen to do no wrong..

The point I was trying to make though is if Keane purposefully set out to assault a player surely that is worse than a heat of the moment assault no matter how stupid it is because of the fact he bit his arm like a little girl.

Ivanovic is one for pinching under arms and standing on toes in the box though which isnt any better as its all cheating at the end of the day.

There is the argument as mentioned above though that as he had already recently received a lengthy ban for racism that his punishment needs to be escalated.

What the FA needs is some consistency then everyone knows where they stand.

And retrospective yellow cards for theatrical diving while I am on the subject as its killing the game.
