Train is expensive and a long drawn out affair, that is why we took the coach option!

30 April 2018 at 3:00 pm #168696For anyone still thinking about the train. Below is what I’ve found which appears to avoid the Bus Replacements.
Out
12:22 Wigan North Western to Doncaster (Change at Manchester Piccadilly). Arrive in Don about 2:30Return
20:44 Doncaster to Wigan North Western (Change at Leeds and Man Picc). Arrive in Wigan about 23:15About £35
30 April 2018 at 3:46 pm #168699Driving and going early to an excellent chippy cafe I know, 20 mins off Keepmoat, for superb fish and chips. Taking kids anyway so not bothered about drinking.
Can’t be faffing around on trains swapping here and there with two young uns.
1 May 2018 at 1:14 pm #168711Supporters Club have just put on a seventh coach to cater for those unable to find a way there. Can we bring booze to leave on the coach for the return journey or is it completely booze free transport?

Somebody should of booked on the train.[/quote]With hindsight we have made the right choice going on the coach, the train will be a nightmare and take ages! Not that bothered about boozing on way back but if it’s allowed then a few celebratory drinks would be nice! We’ll be back on it when we get back anyway!

According to National Rail Enquiries the 22:37 & 22:46 services are running as planned from Piccadilly to North Western and Wallgate. All the other services either side of these times are showing as a bus replacement.
Worst scenario we get a train back to Newton Le Willows and jump in a taxi from there.

In the absence of Jay replying I can say definitely that booze is completely forbidden.
But as you say you can have a celebration when you get back. It’s Saturday night so everywhere will be open.2 May 2018 at 12:33 am #168744Unfortunately it is law that any coach travelling to a Football Stadium is not allowed alcohol on board.
There is a great bar at Doncaster that we can have a drink at (I will be going upstairs for a bit), but how that will cope with 4,000 fans I really don’t know… there is also a shopping mall not too far away, but don’t know what they have there.
Bit of info (in fact a lot of info) here https://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/fans/away-fans/
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

So technically that means if WASC organised a coach to Doncaster Mall for a shopping trip and not to Doncaster Rovers Stadium for a football match it would be alright to have alcohol on the coach. Come on Jayt get some shopping trips planned for next season.
2 May 2018 at 12:42 am #168751There is a lot of coke and lemonade drinkers on there, especially on way back ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

2 May 2018 at 12:16 pm #168769I might just be a boring old fart, but I struggle to understand why people have to drink when going to a game. My dad’s theory is a lot of blokes do it because they’re hen pecked and away from the dragon for a few hours, so it’s their chance for a drink.
I’d sooner stay sober watching this team of ours. Plus, I have two young uns with me so it’s not like I’m on a jolly with the lads. And the cherry on the cake, I’m driving to Doncaster, so that’s me strictly on Pepsi anyway!Enjoy your drink…. But not too much that it ruins your day.
