2 May 2018 at 5:56 pm #168777I might just be a boring old fart, but I struggle to understand why people have to drink when going to a game. My dad’s theory is a lot of blokes do it because they’re hen pecked and away from the dragon for a few hours, so it’s their chance for a drink.
I’d sooner stay sober watching this team of ours. Plus, I have two young uns with me so it’s not like I’m on a jolly with the lads. And the cherry on the cake, I’m driving to Doncaster, so that’s me strictly on Pepsi anyway!Enjoy your drink…. But not too much that it ruins your day.
When I used to take my lad when he was younger I wouldn’t have a drink, these days football is more a social occasion, meet your mates have a few beers while having a laugh. I’m also passionate about real ale so away trips allow me to sample beers from elsewhere.
And I’m definitely not hen pecked, big snowy wears the trousers in his house and I always have the last word in any arguments………….Yes dear!

The Dragon is the one who drags me to the bars.Enjoy your drink…. But not too much that it ruins your day.

I take the kids everytime I go away & don’t miss drinking but there’s nothing wrong with every now & again enjoying a few beers with the mates. Especially if you’ve a chance of winning the league…
2 May 2018 at 11:09 pm #168784Just to reiterate, I was asking if you could drink on the way home! My North End mates tell me they can’t drink going to a game but they can on the way back! If not then so be it, it’s not the end of the World!
Another query- Are there toilets on these coaches ?2 May 2018 at 11:51 pm #168785Just to reiterate, I was asking if you could drink on the way home! My North End mates tell me they can’t drink going to a game but they can on the way back! If not then so be it, it’s not the end of the World!
Another query- Are there toilets on these coaches ?Drink banned completely.
And there are toilets.“The act creates a number of offences in connection with alcohol being transported to and from football matches. Anyone who has alcohol in their possession whilst travelling on a coach or train that is principally being used to take people to or from a match is guilty of an offence. There are provisions relating to the operators and also those who hire vehicles. It is also an offence to be drunk on such a vehicle whether or not the person is in possession of alcohol.
These provisions also apply to minibuses in certain circumstances.”
One point is that both Eavesway and the Supporters Club could also be prosecuted if you have drink on a coach, to or from a match.
3 May 2018 at 1:46 pm #168797And another question! So the coach leaves at 1.45pm but what time does it return? The game should finish circa 7.25pm but what if we win the league, how long will we be there after the final whistle? I’m just trying to work out roughly which train we will be getting back to Leyland on our return to Wigan. Also doe’s the coach only drop off at The DW? Was wondering if the driver can do a drop where Queen Street meets Wallgate?
3 May 2018 at 2:29 pm #168798They generally go once the coach is full, and will wait for stragglers for a while (but not long enough for a sneaky pint). They’ll definitely make allowances for any celebration or presentation. Regarding drop offs they will drop off anywhere on the road they would travel back to the stadium but stick to their planned route. It could be that they come off at Aspull and drive through town. That means, depending on which route they take, you could get off either at the Pear Tree or near the Go Outdoors shop. Neither are far from the station. Alternatively if the come off near Pem/Orrell, then the stadium would probably be your closest point.
3 May 2018 at 2:40 pm #168799Our train is at 10.31pm so hopefully we will be ok! Don’t fancy the bus or waiting for the last train!

I will be taking the coach I am on through Wigan as I will be carrying on regardless (is that a film???) of the result, though hopefully it will be to celebrate the Championship.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
