I am all for free speech but it’s not reciprocated on there forums though is it?. we don’t like each other and that is a given. I don’t have to read there bile that they post on here?. my point is why should they be allowed to post on here when we can not post on there forums?

We can’t post on their forums because if the ‘preached to’ realise that what they have been told about little Wigan Athletic isn’t actually fact, they may well start liking us and that just won’t do for the twisted old timers on there. Can you imagine if the youngsters on there found out that it was them that tried to kill us off, not us that has harmed them in any way at all. Can you imagine if they suddenly realised that our only crime is that we play a more popular sport than theirs (not hard I know)….. man there would be a melt down.

So they don’t let us post, that way the youth will be sheilded from the truth.

some follow both clubs and if that’s what rocks there boat then fair due to them.i think the egg follows both. it must be hard going for them people who follow both clubs?. the egg does not spew insidious bile though like some of the recent insects that have infested this forum as he as equal respect for both clubs. people like me though with a elephants memory will never ever let it lie. ;)

The egg and his family are very good friends of mine and my family.

He has supported both teams home and away (except for clashes) for as long as I remember, but if pushed he would deffo go to the rugby match if the clash was of equal importance.

I feel quite sorry for him sometimes as he fights for the other teams corner when he is with each sets of fans, but gets so much grief for it.

Strange that tonight at the DW the the empty seats were in the North Stand that the Blackpool and Chelsea fans filled in recent weeks for your Wigan Athletic games.

Yet somehow WIGAN R.L. fans managed to fill over 17,000 of the other seats.

          Please explain.

You’ve won the Hub Cap for the first time in almost a decade and your first thought is to post on a Latics website about the gate?

It was a decent turnout and matched the home attendance from Latics fans for our last two home matches of the 2009/10 season, the TV games against Arsenal and Hull.

It’s a shame 5k of those rugby fans failed to turn out at the begining of the season when 12k-13k was the norm.

Both clubs know Wiganer’s are not only fickle but complacent once success is achieved.

I do wonder what planet some rugby fans are on when they criticise Latics support as many are also football fans. Do they not realise if every football fan in the town supported Latics we’d not only fill the DW Stadium it would need to be extended.

By contrast the Warriors are unchalleged for rugby support within the town and hoover up a great many fans from across the North West.

And yet despite such odds it’s only taken Latics 15 years to reach such size and status we dominate every rugby fans thoughts.

Correct I dont know what planet these idiots are on meself as it currently stands Wigan Athletic bring more to the town and more importantly the towns economy with the influx of away support swelling the towns pubs and other shops coffers

17,000 to watch them get the league trophy and they think its magnificent. Not even on *Sky so the missing WRLFC millions couldn’t even watch it from the comfort of their own armchair.

*Incidentally, Sky showed the importance of the “best sport in the world”…..can anyone, Latics fan or eggman remember them not showing live coverage of the championship winning side/individual recieving their trophy?

This is a view from your typical football supporting rugby fan.

Just watched MOTD seeing how Arsenal missed several goal opportunities to crush Wigan Athletic (we won 4-0). I couldn’t help but notice the away end (top right of the stadium on tv) and where were the Wigan fans? It is getting beyond a joke now. Being an Arsenal fan I know how hard it is to get tickets for the stadium……..

The problem is simple, it’s the people who are running the club. I don’t like Latics because they are a rival team, i wont buy into ‘oh they represent wigan’ garbage.

They really do sum up everything that’s wrong with this town. Glory hunting, armchair fans with no pride in where they come from.

As JayT says, yes I follow both and am proud to do so. I’ve followed the rugby since 89 when my Dad first took me and Latics since around 93 when a family friend took me. (was brought up as a Man Utd fan but chose Latics as my club in about 95/96 and have been 100% blue and white ever since)

Again, as Jay says I always stick up for Latics at rugby and vice-versa. Last night infact I was arguing (well, more debating) with some rugby friends of mine regarding the stadium use. Like it or not from a rugby pov Latics take preference under PL rules and so the rugby have to abide by that. The club themselves are happy with that and it benefits us in the media as they can’t blame the rugby for the pitch if they haven’t played (saying that they blamed us in January once and we hadn’t played for 3 months) Should Latics ever go down then that may change and we may return to the norm.

I posted on my facebook last night that The DW should be like that every week for both clubs. Queing to get in, queing to go up the stairs, a packed concourse, a packed stand, a cracking atmosphere. Sadly, I don’t think it ever will.

Oh, and as I’ve said before the guy who runs the Cherry and White site is a Latics fan.

I suspect if the game was the culmination of a season which saw Latics win the league and be presented with a trophy then ALL the seats would be sold.

What you seem to be saying is that despite enjoying your best night in about 15 years, your lot still can’t be @rsed filling all your seats.

fair dues the egg. it must be difficult following both as there is no love lost between both sets of supporters. for Dave Whelan to think that both could live happily ever after was very naive on his part. to put lindsay on the board of directors was a major slap in the face to the old timers of Wigan athletic. were grateful(up to a point) and all that jazz for what you have done Mr Whelan. then you go and rub are noses in it by putting that despicable snake on the board of directors? wtf was that about?. I have mates who are pne fans and I have warned them about ML they think he is great and he is the man to sort there club out :? . deary deary me!. they will learn though?????? the hard way!

Sun May 8 2005. Wigan v Reading. The most important game in Wigan’s history as a victory would secure promotion to the premiership.

                      Attendance 19662.

                      Empty seats – approx 5500.

Kind of blows your theory right out the window….
