25 July 2013 at 12:36 am #118238Celtic go through to the Champions League third qualifying round – with a tie against Elfsborg – by beating Cliftonville 5-0 on aggregate.
Linfield face Skoda Xanthi tomorrow, with a 1-0 lead from the first leg. The winners play either KR Reykjavik or Standard Liege
I’d be happy with a trip to Belgium. Standard’s great rivals Club Brugge are also in the Europa League and play either Slask Wroclaw or Rudar Pljevlja in the next round.
Brugge would be a great venue to see the guys play. Less than an hour from Calais and with Oostende,Blankenburg, Zeebrugge and Knokke Heist all within a short distance would make it an ideal place to night out. Also in the Flemish part so everyone speaks perfect English and really friendly.
25 July 2013 at 2:25 am #118243Is a trip to Prague possible?

Two manky hookers and a racist dwarf.
25 July 2013 at 3:23 am #118246Is a trip to Prague possible?Sparta Prague drew 2-2 at home to Hacken of Sweden in the 2nd Qualifying Round with the second leg tomorrow.
The other two Czech teams in the Europa League do not play in Prague – Slovan Liberec are 2-1 down to Skonto Riga in the 2nd Qual Rd and Jablonec join in the next round.
The Champions League entrants are Viktoria Plzen, so even if they get far enough in the CL to gain a place in the Europa League if they get knocked out they too do not play in Prague..
The only chance therefore of us going to Prague is for Sparta to somehow fight through the away tie in Sweden (having already conceded two away goals) and then beat Thun of Switzerland or Chikura Sachkhere of Georgia. That will then put them in the play-off round with the likes of Spurs, Fiorentina, Dynamo Kiev, Spartak Moscow, Feyenoord, Betis, Besiktas among many others including Atromitos who we played on Monday.
They then could get through to the group stages – which we have already qualified for. I suspect people don’t really fully realise the scale of our achievement to reach this stage.
25 July 2013 at 3:57 am #118249I wouldn’t mind a trip to Linfield.Don’t forget that we can also draw the teams that fail to qualify for the Champions League. A trip to Celtic anyone?
Those IRA supporting, Poppy disregarding, English haters, who were allegedly recently singing songs that mocked Lee Rigby’s murder? Yes, that’d be a great trip.
25 July 2013 at 9:22 am #118250Could we end up playing one of the other english PL teams?? such as swansea??
25 July 2013 at 11:20 am #118252Not until the quarter finals bryn

Pasching anyone? Pasching is a municipality in Upper Austria, Austria, located 298 meters above sea level, with a population of about 6100?
Surely a bigger achievement than our cup winning.Scroll down to see it all taking shape.

Notably six teams take part in the competition that don’t play in their national top-division this season. They are: Hapoel Ramat Gan (2nd tier), Hødd (2nd), Pasching (3rd), Teteks (2nd), Vaduz (2nd) and Wigan Athletic (2nd).
25 July 2013 at 6:03 pm #118274ok Egg- thanks for that

Surely a bigger achievement than our cup winning.Incredible achievement when you consider not only the fact that they were/are 3rd tier, but also who they beat – FK Vienna…27 time cup winners going for the double!
Roll on 30th August!!
2 August 2013 at 1:07 am #118674Tonight I am mostly supporting estoril, Brugge, Zante and Seville. St Johnstone had another amazing win in Minsk and Swansea pissing their tie.

My choices: I’d like a Scottish team – because we’d hopefully get a decent number going there, Lech Poznan – fantastic city even though the locals are nutters, and Braga – nice little city.
2 August 2013 at 1:50 am #118679I was just going to post the same about Xanthi. Up in the very top corner of Greece near the Turkish border.
Not Zante – or Zakynthos as it is properly called – where I went for my holiday last year :)
