Had a grinning moment this morning when our IT boff came in..

    IT Boff: Are you excited?

    Me: About what?

IT Boff: The Europa draw today?!?

Me: That’s only for the shit teams … We’re already in the group stages darling ;)

I was just going to post the same about Xanthi. Up in the very top corner of Greece near the Turkish border.

Not Zante – or Zakynthos as it is properly called – where I went for my holiday last year :)

We went to Tsvili in Zante last year – Planet Studios. A great place to stay. They even stuck the home game against Stoke on the big screen for us !!!

    #119138

We were at Plagos Beach, just near Tsilivi.

Two weeks tody fellas……..We’ll be looking forward to some of this lot as away days. (Plus the few already in the groups) My thoughts on the winners of each in bold. Estoril (Lisbon seaside) v Little Pasching of Austria sees one of them in the next round which would be an ideal starting point for me.

The 10 LOSERS of the UEFA Champions League Qualifying Play-Off Round go into the Europa League draw too. Some more attractive teams here.

      Shakhtyor Karaganda V Celtic
      Lyon V Real Sociedad
Pacos Ferreira V Zenit St Petersburg
      Plzen V NK Maribor
      PSV Eindhoven V AC Milan
      Dinamo Zagreb V Austria Vienna
      Fenerbahce V Arsenal
      Ludogorets Razgrad V FC Basel
      Schalke 04 V Paok Salonika
      Steaua Bucharest V Legia Warsaw

      #119391

      PSV or AC Milan?

I’ve been to both grounds. Bl00dy rubbish, Wigan.

      #119392

Always fancied a trip to Vienna.

Probably end up going to Glasgow

Anyone been to Ludogorets Razgrad before?

Starting to get exciting though, planning how to get to wherever… :woohoo:

Judging by Neil Lennon’s comments, if we get Shakter Karagandy, might be ruddy impossible to get there, Celtic have had problems getting visas to get in to Kazakhstan and they’ve got to play there! If the club struggles to get visas, not sure us mere spectators stand much chance.

        #119396

St Johnstone fans couldn’t get visas to go to Belarus. They had one supporter there – a Scot who lived there.

Best hope we avoid some of the farther reaches.

        #119569

Just 30 Celtic fans have made the 3,100 mile trip to Kazakhstan for Tuesday afternoon’s Champions League qualifier at Shakhter Karagandy – who have slaughtered a sheep at their stadium for good luck.

Celtic kicked off at 4:00pm – and are losing 1-0 just now. The loser will go into the Europa League draw.

More Champions League matches tonight and tomorrow; Europa League matches on Thursday.

I know the draw is this Friday but does anyone know how soon thereafter the sequence of fixtures are announced?
The first game is September 19th and there’s a strong possibility that will be the week I start a new job, it would be nice to know sooner rather than later if I have to beg 2 days off in my first week to get to Freiburg and back (which would be ironic as I was there 2 weeks ago).

          #119826

People moan at me for posting the source documents, so that you can see and interpret for yourself, but para 7.04 explains the sequence – so it’ll be known straightaway once it’s decided who is in the group and which team number we are:

          1st matchday: 2 v 3 4 v 1
          2nd matchday: 1 v 2 3 v 4
          3rd matchday: 3 v 1 2 v 4
          4th matchday: 1 v 3 4 v 2
          5th matchday: 3 v 2 1 v 4
          6th matchday: 2 v 1 4 v 3

You may also find other snippets about the competition in this – the official rules and regulations for the Europa League this season.

          http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/Regulations/competitions/Regulations/01/94/62/40/1946240_DOWNLOAD.pdf

For example 19.14 shows that the competition badge is worn only on the right sleeve. I’ve seen quite a few people who have got badges on both sleeves on their replica shirts – the left sleeve should have the “Respect” badge.

Many thanks Garswood, you won’t find me moaning, well not about you posting source documents anyway :)
