Well our crowds never jumped up because of that. They just better supported than us. Still, crowds mean f*** all so let’s get back on topic.
The issue with starting in the 3rd round is we have less chance of playing a Chorley or an FC United. Would love a local non league side away. Macclesfield was top for example.
Going back to topic, I went on with my lad and had been looking forward to it all week. Real football, FA Cup early rounds, Ashton already gone through 2 rounds to get to this 1st qualifying round, the furthest they’d ever been. A win would get them 3k I believe.
The game was played in unbelievable conditions. For the majority of the game, there were chaps with buckets scooping water out of a hole behind the net! As the pitch is on a slope, one end had loads of standing water while the other end played perfect. I can honestly say despite this it was one of the best team performances I’ve witnessed, all things considered. My lad honestly said “this is better than going Wigan dad”.
Great football, loads of endeavour, skill, goals, great crowd and atmosphere, loads of latics, pies, hot dogs, pints and pop. (We went again yesterday to watch the under 18’s play Chester!)
Bring on the draw at 12pm. Salford City at home in a monsoon would suit just fine.
Hoping word will spread anyway and a few more get down to watch great football for £6 Darwen at home tomorrow night anyone?

It will be superb, they get a couple of thousand at home. I’m getting a hot dog stand on the corner of Brocstedes and buying up pound pie shop in the morning!
Been to Brocstedes Park to watch my mate play in an amateur cup final about 3 years ago. Not saying I would go to the game, but wonder if Ashton will try and move that game to the Sunday, know a few lads who went on Sat as we had no game, reckon they’d get a few more going to that game if it was moved. That said, Halifax will surely bring a few (I presume its the ex-FL club)
It’s not a bad shout Abram, I know on Sunday the chairman said to me if they pulled the likes of Salford they may look at moving it away.
Halifax (who drew with 10 men at Salford last night) get 1500-2000 at home and reckon they’ll bring 500+ to Brocstedes. Should be interesting at the one turnstile, one man bar, one man pie hatch, 3 seat deep stand!

Talking to a few people last night. They expect about 400 from Halifax.
As for myself have decided that given the choice between watching Latics v Fulham yet again, or my very local club in the biggest game in their history, then it’s got to be Brocstedes for me.
And when they get knocked out of the cup you can jump back off the bandwagon and crawl back to the DW.
Why haven’t you been going to watch Ashton every week?

Fuck the EFL
I know where I’ll be to, I’ve done the poxy grounds, with no facilities, no crowds, poor parking, terrace altercations etc etc. watching my own team for nearly two decades. I’ll be buggered if I go back to that watching a club I don’t support.
Sorta get where you are coming from, but the Fulham game is far more of a priority, even if a none league team from Ashton was playing Barcelona. ;)

What a journey!As for myself have decided that given the choice between watching Latics v Fulham yet again, or my very local club in the biggest game in their history, then it’s got to be Brocstedes for me.As a Season Ticket Holder, you’ll be counted in the “official” attendance for the Fulham game, so you can legitimately claim to be in two places at once! ;)
