Well the season tickets will count on the Latics crowd so the usual ten thousand or so will show as the gate.
Won’t be any queues at Latics ticket office on match days this season.
Twenty is plenty and if anyone from the south side of Wigan fancies taking themselves to football on that day there is a chance their money could go in the direction of Ashton.

As for myself have decided that given the choice between watching Latics v Fulham yet again, or my very local club in the biggest game in their history, then it’s got to be Brocstedes for me.

As a Season Ticket Holder, you’ll be counted in the “official” attendance for the Fulham game, so you can legitimately claim to be in two places at once! ;)[/quote]

And when they get knocked out of the cup you can jump back off the bandwagon and crawl back to the DW.

Why haven’t you been going to watch Ashton every week?

I know where i’ll be that Saturday!

Good for you. But you know what? I really don’t care what you think. You do what you want. I really really don’t care one way or the other. I’m not asking you to come along.

Watching Ashton isn’t exactly “jumping on a bandwagon”, but perhaps it’s giving a bit of support to grassroots football that is sadly neglected by the powers that be. But you wouldn’t understand that.

Now get back to trawling through the rugby forums, and the WEP, and anywhere else where you can get hot under the collar about a team and sport that you claim to despise.

I, however, will be on the coach to Norwich next Tuesday night. See you there?

I know where I’ll be to, I’ve done the poxy grounds, with no facilities, no crowds, poor parking, terrace altercations etc etc. watching my own team for nearly two decades. I’ll be buggered if I go back to that watching a club I don’t support.

Sorta get where you are coming from, but the Fulham game is far more of a priority, even if a none league team from Ashton was playing Barcelona. ;)

No probs to me, John. Each to their own, and to make their call. Obviously Latics is number 1 priority for most, and usually myself. But I’m going to give a bit of a shout for Ashton that day.

Fair play to you Garswood. I for one wouldn’t miss a Latics match to watch another club, in fact I don’t think I would ‘pay’ to watch another club even if Latics weren’t playing.

I have been to Old Trafford to watch Utd for free from time to time, but turned the free tickets down a few times in favour of a trip to the DW.

Each to their own I suppose.

Not a bad response for someone that claims not to care what i think!

When Rag Arse Rovers get knocked out, will you be going to watch some of their players playing for Wigan Amateur clubs in cup competitions? You being a supporter of “grassroots football” and all that.

Not going to Sheffield on Saturday then?

          Fuck the EFL

Too right Horc rather pay on the Latics than get a freebie at Old Trafford. Nothing disloyal at all though paying to watch another team. It is where the heart is that matters. Many of our own loyal fans choose not to attend cup games Latics play in for some strange reason. This is choice and up to them. For me cup games are even better because they usually cost less. Who knows this season with the ridiculous match day prices a few home FA Cup games may actually attract a few extra than normal. Good luck Ashton and have a good day Garswood.

How people can have a quibble about folk paying £6 to watch their (really) local team is beyond me. Ashton have had plenty of my 6 quids when I haven’t been going away with Latics and will continue to do so.

In a way it takes me back to every Latics cup game, as a minnow, I’ve ever been to and I’m looking forward to it just as much. It is very much a first and most probably a last for Ashton Athletic to pull a bit of a name in this round of the FA Cup. 400 tickets have gone to Halifax, record crowd is probably 150!

If you don’t get it, you don’t get football imo

Tez, nowt to do with you plotting how you can make a few quid out of the people that attend the game is it?

It is beyond me why the moderators allow comments promoting and encouraging members of this site to go to watch another club on the same day as Latics are playing at home albeit on a Wigan Athletic website.

Why do you have to broadcast it on here? Haven’t Ashton got their own website or is that the plan to appeal to a wider audience?

Remember moderator(s) this is a WAFC forum!

Who has tried to encourage people to go to Ashton instead of Latics?

                    #150578

I think I did say “I’m not asking you to come along”. But facts have never been a strong point.

One positive note about attending the game is you will not have that deluded clown anywhere near you GL. Since joining last December, all he’s done is post negativity, bile, bitterness and attack anyone who doesn’t share his views (just like he did on the WEP). I can understand his dislike for me, as I’ve often called him out on the WEP, and proved many of his claims to be utter crap, but why he felt the need to start attacking you and others on here is beyond me.

At least you’ll know next Tuesday that you’ll not be within 200 miles of smelling the foul stench of the 30 year old chips that have stagnated on his shoulders.

Enjoy Norwich – I lived there on and off for almost 10 years.

If I well remember Latics had some astonishing crowds and results as a non league outfit. Over 17k on against Peterborough, over 15k against Mansfield. Over 10k against South Shields. At the time league crowds were around 2k. Latics got brilliant support from fans of other local clubs like Bolton, Preston Man Utd and City, Liverpool and Everton. They rallied round to back a small local club. It’s a fan thing and a football thing and not a disloyal thing.
