I don’t get all this ‘run the risk of Utd fans in our end” lark. We are not the only club to ever have played at Old Trafford, how does every other club manage to ensure the tickets go to their fans?

There are no more Utd fans in Wigan than there are in any other local town or none local town for that matter, so how is it that in Wigan the Utd fans would get the tickets and not Latics fans?

Considering that sides always take more fans to Old Trafford than they actually get at home (or have ever had) I would suggest that there are quite a few in there who are only there because it’s Utd.

We average around 9K home fans and I would imagine that the majority are ST holders. We only take around 1K to away matches though and have never taken more than 5K I believe. Why on Earth would we ask for 7, 8 or even 10K tickets?? We could ask for none and would still get the gate receipts as Utd would fill them no problem.

Personally I think the club have done it right in asking for a realistic number that is sold to Wigan ST holders and doesn’t end up on general sale to anyone or even worse get sent back. Wiganers aren’t exactly known for paying out for tickets especially when we’re expected to get stuffed.

The one thing I would criticise is that it should have been 1 per ST holder unless they have been stringent with the booking histories because there will be plenty who are on the system that have been to 8 home matches and none in the last four years. (well, and one friendly)

You only have to look at the pubs when they are on TV to know that this town is full of Utd fans and the last thing the club wants on national TV is for us to look like Milwall did at Wembley should some Utd fans jump up in the Wigan end. The history is certainly there which is why the booking system, and the netting was brought in.

The club can’t do right for doing wrong though sometimes. Had they asked for 10K and sold 5K then everyone would be asking why they got that many and we would never sell them etc etc. They’ve looked at the fact that we have taken more than 3K to Old Trafford so why would we start now???

Dearest season ticket I’ve ever bought this, due to work I’ve only attended 3 home games this season and I can’t attend again today,( because of work )the future games if I’m lucky I might make 4 more that works out at £25 a game ish which I think is still an all right price so well done latics. Now will people begrudge me an FA cup ticket I had the problems I started at 09:00 and got mine at 11:40 (still not seen the ticket)the best way was to pick up your ticket in person but to most work dictates the problem was with the ticket agents NOT Latics they couldn’t tell the difference between the adults kids juniors etc and also seats together that’s what our club needs to look at, now personally I think sod the booking history it should have been 1 season ticket 1 FA cup ticket and preference given to those who attended the Forest leg surely it can’t be that hard to avoid this fiasco happening again.
Long winded I know but I’m bored at work UP THE TICS and hers to a precious 3 pts today I hope you all freeze.

Sorry egg lad but you obviously wasn’t at Goodison in 81 because we took quite a few more than 5000 that day. It isn’t the point anyway. In FA cup games away clubs get a percentage or the capacity those are the rules so the problem to me is who decided we got only 1900 initially in a stadium of 78000.

You’re right there Nuneaton, we should have started at 3k.

First things first OT hold 74,000 and if we did take 9,000 and I mean if and we subsided ever ticket to let’s say £25 that would roughly cost the club £200,000 and that would come out of what ever profit we are making now would you take that hit from your profit

Nobody is saying we should take 9000 ffs but we have more than 1900 season ticket holders so forget corporate, sponsors etc for a minute the point is Latics fans have been going to lengths for tickets because we had an unreasonable initial allocation. Why and who chose that figure when the stadium is of such a vast capacity?

If you read other posts sum do say we should of took the 9 k not all but sum even if we got the other allocation of let’s say 2,000 that would cost the clubs an extra £60,000 and that’s on top of the £40,000 it has already cost the club you not getting the point that because of greedy Man U and Latics fans not thinking it though

There is a rumour that Latics fans will be all over the home ends.

I struggled to get there what with not being born ;)

I doubt the club basis its business on what we did 36 years ago though thankfully.

I have never been as squashed and trampled as much as that day at Goodison, it was reported there were 20,000 Latics fans there, and it felt like they were all on the same terrace as me.

Apparently it was the largest attendance of the season at any English football ground apart from the FA Cup Final of course, at Wembley.

I was at Everton that day, got chased after the game for the best part of 3 miles by 3 lads after my green flash.

Back to the tickets, simply, it was a disgrace to allow 2 per season ticket. I have heard that those in the ticket department disagreed with 2 per season ticket so the last vote went to those upstairs and it was these who gave it the green light.

No naming anyone like but his name is what you do to a knife to make it cut better and his chippy was sh*t, not a patch on Bill’s fries on Scholes Precinct.

Whatever happened to the old fashioned way , club gets percentage of tickets sells as many as poss sends those not sold back for home club to sell on. Simple.

That would be far too simple Nuneaton.
There is no reason why we coulldn’t have taken 7000 tickets from them, put them on sale until Saturday evening and sent the remaining ones back on Sunday for Utd to sell the following week.
Who knows, we may have sold them all anyway with the way the original 3000 were snapped up.[/quote]
Yes there is. It’s not like Wembley.

The club had to commit to the tickets they took.

They were given the option of taking 1900 first, with an additional buffer of 1100 if those sold, and after that it would mean committing to an additional 2000 or so as that was the size of the next block.
