Whatever happened to the old fashioned way , club gets percentage of tickets sells as many as poss sends those not sold back for home club to sell on. Simple.
That would be far too simple Nuneaton.
There is no reason why we coulldn’t have taken 7000 tickets from them, put them on sale until Saturday evening and sent the remaining ones back on Sunday for Utd to sell the following week.
Who knows, we may have sold them all anyway with the way the original 3000 were snapped up.
Yes there is. It’s not like Wembley. The club had to commit to the tickets they took.
They were given the option of taking 1900 first, with an additional buffer of 1100 if those sold, and after that it would mean committing to an additional 2000 or so as that was the size of the next block.
I was refering to Nuneatons post of, whatever happened to the old fashioned way.
I do know why we took so few and why we didn’t take up the extra after the second lot, I can read, and do understand why, but that wasn’t the point of the post.
You are a very tiresome individual at times Standish, stop jumping on peoples back the second it may look like someone is having a go at the club, its getting a bit tedious.23 January 2017 at 5:51 pm #154520Whatever happened to the old fashioned way , club gets percentage of tickets sells as many as poss sends those not sold back for home club to sell on. You said:‘There is no reason why we coulldn’t have taken 7000 tickets from them, put them on sale until Saturday evening and sent the remaining ones back on Sunday for Utd to sell the following week.’
And I was merely saying ‘yes there is a reason why would couldn’t have done that’.
The old fashioned way went out of the window long ago when football stadiums stopped selling out for FA Cup matches. If you can sell thousands of tickets in one go to the visitng club, why would you even consider taking them back again and possibly losing out on that revenue?
People have posted on here that it didn’t help that the club allowed two per season ticket – which I agree with. Likewise it was poor that they couldn’t get through on the phone – which I also agree with.
And yes, I may be tedious, but this is a forum. It’s for debating and expressing your views. So, if I don’t agree with what you’ve said I’m going to post as much!
23 January 2017 at 9:57 pm #154522Also Standish I imagine that certain stadiums are harder to segregate when you have small/large away followings like OT who sell out in the end. Me being a passionate ABU is just really looking to put the blame on that shower of shite. Lol.

I know what I said, if you want to twist it in your pedantic tedious mind and try to make it into an argument, then thats up to you, to be fair I wouldn’t expect anything else, but I suppose it helps to keep the board ticking over if nothing else.
BTW, when you say, ‘The old fashioned way went out of the window long ago when football stadiums stopped selling out for FA Cup matches.’ then surely all clubs should be looking to return to the old policy and even pay on day gates, stadiums may be bit fuller that way.
24 January 2017 at 3:26 am #154529Well what’s going to happen at the replay? I reckon East and North stand at £46-00 a seat for Utd and West and South for Latics at a tenner. Milk the Tourists.
25 January 2017 at 3:10 am #154577To chuck another spanner in the works a fan that as paid on the day ten times or so this season will have given the club much more in cash than a season ticket purchaser so why shouldn’t they have first dibs.
I only say this to point out the club are in a no win situation with this subject. When there is a demand some fans will always miss out.If he doesnt go he doesnt pay, a season ticket holder pays up front regardless if he goes or not. If he intends to go every game or the vast majority of home games he would be better getting a season ticket on the tick or go to night school and do his maths exam again.

Good one Egg.
26 January 2017 at 10:15 pm #154628I can see Yanic ripping the arrogant gets apart and scoring a winner like his magnificent goal at Crewe last season.
3000 and another few thousand Latics fans in the home seats going mental.

Amazing.Good God I hope so. Would take a scabby one though
26 January 2017 at 11:30 pm #154632I’m a realist so I’ve got a fiver on 4-0 and a fiver on 3-1 just in case we score one, obviously hope I am wrong and that we win but just can’t see it!

I looked last night on ladbrokes & it was only 17/2 – I didn’t think the rewards of putting a fiver on at those odds outranked the same of betting against my own team!!!
27 January 2017 at 8:17 pm #154651In the words of Martin Luther King “I had a dream” last night, Wildschut comes on and rips past Valencia leaving him doing the moonwalk and baps the winner in 5 minutes into Joycey time
Then I woke up and realised
Valencia might be rested
27 January 2017 at 9:50 pm #154652Remember shaking Mr Valencia’s hand after he had been subbed playing for the reserves against Noblot reserves at Leyland Motors Thurston Road.
Don’t know what cologne he had on but a bit fancier than a fifteen year old bottle of Old Spice.
Did ok from his sale didn’t we? Thought his final ball was not up to much but United brought him on. Don’t have shit coaches at United, just the best and they will be up for it after losing one of their best to us. -
