Sorry Prescott but you must have been watching a differnt game than me. It was utter rubbish. If the chairman doesn’t get the right type of player in, and to do that he will have to spend some serious money then it is relegation. The sooner he sells the club to someone who is prepared to take it seriously the better. I was there before Whelan and will be there after him.
Is this another pearl of wisdom? Who in their right mind would buy Wigan other than another multi-millionaire Wiganner? (And there aint many of them about) Do you think a foreign owner would take it more seriously than Whelan?
Get a grip. It was a bad performance. Every team has them.
Anyone would be better than Whelan. At least they would spend serious money to support their investment. I long for the day when I see a camel tied up outside the stadium in the Chairmans parking space. Sooner Whelan goes the better. He will be the downfall of this club.
19 August 2009 at 2:47 am #5521And pray where would the club be without him. Still shaking cans outside pubs to pay players wages no doubt.
19 August 2009 at 2:50 am #5522And pray where would the club be without him. Still shaking cans outside pubs to pay players wages no doubt. He has done a greart job getting us into the Premier League, but there comes a time when it is necessary to move on.
19 August 2009 at 3:13 am #5529Yes he was in charge of Swansea when they played Wolves, so that makes tonights rubbish even worse as he should have known how Wolves play. Obviously he has very little experience in knowing how to manage a premier league club. I have my doubts about his suitability as manager. Whelan was spouting about him on Sky Sports over the weekend saying that he will be one of the top four managers in the country. Well not on tonigts performance. Whelan its time you kept your gob shut!
You are completely overreacting. We have lost one game for Christ’s sake. Against a decent side that scored from a set piece early on and then put ten men behind the ball.
Let’s not forget that we are WIGAN. How can losing a Premiership game against Wolves cause so much outrage? We’re by no means the finished article yet.
we were utter dire and i have never said that in 46 years. we are in trouble. smell the grass!19 August 2009 at 7:11 am #5542Springfield blue
was you one of the dickheads who bood the team off at half time ?
19 August 2009 at 10:13 am #5545Never bood them of yet and wont. But they were absolute garbage. Time for Whelan to dress them all down.
19 August 2009 at 10:42 am #5546Springfield Blue,………..if that was the worst performance you ave seen for 50 years,I take it you didnt go to Frickley Athletic in 1976.
19 August 2009 at 11:44 am #5547I think you need to get a little perspective on things – worse game in 50 year… behave ya self…. I can recall far worse games than last night just look at a few from last season.. Yes a few thing where not quite right tonight… yes it would be good to have someone in central mid to distribute the ball better, but at the end of the day we did create the chances and right up to the last minute could have had a point out of it. so stop with all the doom and gloom for f sake.
I’d me more concerned that only 12k latics fans made it to the ground than anything else. going around moaning your head off is hardly going to sway any potential newcomers is it…. Muppet!
19 August 2009 at 11:48 am #5548Well said Queeny now come on lets get behind the fellows and look forward towards the next game. I for one cant wait we just had some jolly bad luck.
19 August 2009 at 12:19 pm #5549Tonights performance was possibly the wort I have ever seen Wigan Athletic play, and I have been watching the Latics for nearly 50 years. In fact I will go so far as to say that it was an utter disgrace. I suggest you go to the chairman and tell him to open his wallet and spend big time because if he doesn’t you will be managing a Championship team next season.I can think of many more games that were awful
Latics v Mansfield – got beat 6-2
Latics v Bristol City – got beat 5-0
Latics v Barnet – got beat 5-0 (and I made the trip down on a cold Tuesday neet)
Latics v Canvey Island…..last season against Fulham
Springfield Blue….get a grip

Well said. I tell you what, we’ve got some right c**t’s supposedly ‘supporting’ Latics. Deary me. :(
19 August 2009 at 2:34 pm #5579Not sure whether it was bad luck or not but:
N’Zogbia clean through first half, fluffed it and was blocked
Cross across face of goal second half – just needed a touch
Scott Sinclair header wide
Scharner pricking about and juggling it into touch when he had clear sight of goalone or two of those four go in and it’s a very different game
although Wolves should have had a pen, very minor contact but he stuck his foot out way after the ball and those are always given these days – ref got it wrong there

Good points, there. To hear some people, we never had a shot!
