Sorry Prescott but you must have been watching a differnt game than me. It was utter rubbish. If the chairman doesn’t get the right type of player in, and to do that he will have to spend some serious money then it is relegation. The sooner he sells the club to someone who is prepared to take it seriously the better. I was there before Whelan and will be there after him.

Is this another pearl of wisdom? Who in their right mind would buy Wigan other than another multi-millionaire Wiganner? (And there aint many of them about) Do you think a foreign owner would take it more seriously than Whelan?

Get a grip. It was a bad performance. Every team has them.
Anyone would be better than Whelan. At least they would spend serious money to support their investment. I long for the day when I see a camel tied up outside the stadium in the Chairmans parking space. Sooner Whelan goes the better. He will be the downfall of this club.
Whelan was not on the field last night so how is he to blame,we fielded the same side that tore Villa apart.Last night was a differnt sort of game we will have to get used too but it cant happen overnight. The players stuck to the tasks set them and tried to make it work, yes we need another way to play when things are not working out but give it time.

This board is turning into a farce with threads like this. Sack Martinez after two games — one of which was a very impressive away win?!!? Jesus wept.
Yes we were shyte last night, but we still had chances. Everton and Villa were shyte on day one; will Moyes’ and O’Neil’s head being called for?

Just put it down to a bad day at the office and move on. We’ve got 3 points from the first two games which is what I was expecting anyway.

With regards to Whelan, we all know he’s a tight get, but we have to respect the fact that we wouldn’t be here to day if weren’t for him. Heck, we could’ve gone the same way as Wigan borough et al and folded.

To title your thread “FAO Roberto Martinez” and then to come out with such invective is a disgrace.

Two matches into the season and you are already having a go at a man who is a legend at this club.

What on earth are you expecting this year, Champion’s f….. League football? Get back on this planet.

Bob could be the manager who turns this club into the colourful, attacking Premier League force that we all want. But it won’t happen overnight.

We are taking giant steps forward every season.

I wish I could say you should hang your head in shame when things shape up, but I honestly believe you won’t even accept success when it comes without some ridiculous attack on our club.

Go and support Man Utd. Oh sorry they’ve just sold Ronaldo and Tevez, bloody rubbish Ferguson!

What a pathetic post! Why are we even wasting our time on this thread?

Not sure whether it was bad luck or not but:

N’Zogbia clean through first half, fluffed it and was blocked
Cross across face of goal second half – just needed a touch
Scott Sinclair header wide
Scharner friend about and juggling it into touch when he had clear sight of goal

one or two of those four go in and it’s a very different game

although Wolves should have had a pen, very minor contact but he stuck his foot out way after the ball and those are always given these days – ref got it wrong there

I thought we should have had a pen to for the foul on Scotland!!!

But as I pointed out in another post, we were equally as good satdy as we were bad tonight. Bobby needs to learn quickly that teams like wolves, burnley, stoke, birmingham, etc. will close us down for 90 mins, that exactly the game plan that has kept us in the prem for 5 seasons.

The only way to beat it is up the tempo, this passing across the backline at snails pace just allows their midfield to sit back and wait for the mistake and it came time and time again, mostly in the form of a huge boot into touch from bramble. Our passing at Villa was much slicker and quicker but to be fair villa gave us the space and time to do that.

Great post. After pre-season I was worried that we would get found out quickly and that once a team closes us down for 90 mins we wouldn’t have the speed of passing to break a team down. Some of the passing along the back line last night was so slow it gave wolves all the time in the world to get everyone marked up (against Villa I don’t seem to remember us playing the ball so slowly across the back except for the last 5 minutes when Bramble had one of his “moments”).
Like you say we will probably play better against teams that give us the time and space to pass it about but we also need to take points from the “bread and butter” games against the likes of wolves, birmingham, stoke, hull. Anyway, will be interesting to see where we are after 10 games or so!!
