19 May 2010 at 1:49 pm #34013If you liked him in mock the week and he does the same in stand up…Why don’t you like his stand up? Or was it that you was disappointed that he only did the same things?
Yeah, it was just because I’d heard it all before. If it was new material then it would have been excellent. His book is a bit meh as well.
The US version is quite possibly the best sitcom on TV at the moment.I concur. I think it has the best and most well written characters of any comedy programme. And I have an unerring affection for Pam.
19 May 2010 at 8:20 pm #34065Eddie Murphy in the Raw and Delirious routines were some of the finest stand up ever.
Frankie Boyle nicks most of his material from sickipedia.com
I cant stand Ricky Gervais either.
19 May 2010 at 11:28 pm #34094Tommy Trinder was quite funny and Tommy Handley was funny ” Dont forget the diver ” !!
I am of course being sarcastic as they were c r a p ! In fact none of the old music hall comedians were funny :(20 May 2010 at 12:45 am #34105John Bishop is pretty good for a scouser anyway.
20 May 2010 at 1:57 am #34111John Bishop is pretty good for a scouser anyway. It may well be down to my uncouth hearing, but I cannot understand a single word the man says. This is the case with most Scousers, mind, but Bishop is just incoherent to extremes.

Not too keen on Edie Murphy, Actually I don’t like him at all!
Frankie Boyle, regardless of where his stuff is from he is funny.
Gervais is awful.
Who is john Bishop?
Chris Rock anyone?

Gotta be more Richard Pryor, without him there wouldn’t even be a Chris Rock or an Eddie Murphy (regardless if you think he’s gash).
Did you get round to watching Animals then yet?

I just find Chris rock funny from what i have seen, but to be fair I havent seen much from him.
I haven’t yet pal.. Working sh1te hours at the moment like 2-10’s and by time I get out of gym after a 2-10 I’m fukt! (like right now)..Will have to have a look soon.
20 May 2010 at 2:16 pm #34142Pryor, Rock and Murphy are stereotypical black comedians in my view, using comedy in a self-deprecating manner to produce ‘I’m-black-but-funny-too-laughs’. This is mainly Pryor and Rock though, and I do like Richard Pryor purely because of his films with Gene Wilder, whereas Murphy has just eradicated any possible perception of him being funny by coming out with guff like ‘Nutty Professor’, ‘Norbit’ and ‘Meet Dave’. He’s just embarrassing himself now.
Has Dylan Moran been mentioned yet? Excellent comic.

I agree about the Eddie Murphy bit…All of his films are awful and he is awful in them.. Pisses me off.
Wasn’t it Chris Rock in the film Dogma with Jay and Silent Bob…If so it is a great film! :D
20 May 2010 at 9:22 pm #34206I haven’t seen that. He was alright in The Longest Yard though; if only it wasn’t the 42nd remake of the same concept.

I have it on DVD, just looked and it IS Chris Rock…Good film and he is awesome in it!
23 May 2010 at 10:13 pm #34491Ricky Gervais is probably the funniest man around today and he does it by just being himself. His material is weird but it is the way he says things that is funny and his laugh(check his show with karl Pilkington) just cracks me up.
The funniest comedian EVER was Dave Allen whose style is a sort of cross between Gervais and Peter Kay.24 May 2010 at 5:32 pm #34521I haven’t seen that. He was alright in The Longest Yard though; if only it wasn’t the 42nd remake of the same concept.

Dogman is a brilliant film. Good nod there Jimmy. Also Eddie Murphy films aren’t so bad Well his latest efforts are pish poor, but I thought the 48 hour movies were quite good. Owd uns though they are.
