Aren’t all seasons based on that? We have the points, its up to them to catch us.
8 April 2019 at 2:40 pm #177890Poor defending has been our downfall all season. At a risk of stating the obvious both Dunkley and Kipre are poor in possession and error prone. When placed under pressure they are even more likely to make errors, which is what happened after Bristol made the three substitutions on Saturday. It doesn’t matter if you have six or ten defenders on the pitch if any one of those makes an individual mistake you are likely to pay the consequences.
8 April 2019 at 3:28 pm #177891Dunkley more than Kipre in my opinion.
Fox and Kipre would be my choice of centre back partnership especially seeing as Olsson doesn’t seem up to it.

Possibly so.
Interesting though that Cook seems to prefer Dunkley to Kipre.Waits in anticipation of responses claiming Cook doesn’t know what he’s doing! (sigh)
8 April 2019 at 4:35 pm #177893A good performance yesterday and a valuable point but our defending at times was frightening and this winless away streak must surely end before the season does. For once Derek I actually agree with you.
9 April 2019 at 1:01 am #177899I actually think Cipre is one of the worst defenders we have had and we’ve had some bad uns. Please watch him closely, he cannot grasp the concept of marking, his positional play for a pro is absolutely woeful. His headers and clearances go anywhere but forward, we call him ten bob bit yed. He also does at least two air shots a game, I’m not joking, the guy is the pits. We had a clean sheet against Brentford, put him back in and its comedy defending again.

What a journey!9 April 2019 at 3:16 am #177900Aren’t all seasons based on that? We have the points, its up to them to catch us.If we defend like we did against Bristol City for the few remaining games left believe you me, 2 points won’t take much catching just like the 2 clubs did on Saturday.
They way you say it you sound like we’re 6 in front with 3 to go !!

2points bud 2 points[/quote]They still need to catch us whether it’s 1 point, 2 points, goal difference or 10 points.
If we stay up it is because we got more points than 3 other teams so were therefore better than they were over the season, not because they’re crap like you, brownbill and others suggest.
9 April 2019 at 7:35 am #177903I think we are in real trouble tbh. I can see Rotherham picking up points against Stoke and Boro and 4 of our games are against teams pushing for promotion or play offs. The pressure on the boys in the home games is going to be immense and personally I don’t see a 2 point cushion being enough though obviously I hope I’m wrong COYL
9 April 2019 at 1:50 pm #177907Rotherham might get the points, but Millwall and Reading might not.
We’re a lot closer to it than I thought we would be at this stage but I still think we have enough

Form goes out the window when the pressure is on.

That’s my point exactly jr but while others are winning the odd game we have had too many draws. Rotherham got hammered 1-6 at Derby but have still picked up more points than us in the last 2 games despite our results being good on paper. If one particular result is going to come back to haunt us it will be the Reading game. We are desperate for 3 points tonight but I don’t see it happening with our defending at times.COYL

I think it was more the Ipswich home game IMO thanks to dunks giving away the needless penalty.
10 April 2019 at 7:02 pm #177918The crucial ones are the points dropped to those close Rotherham reading millwall and when we got thumped at home by Birmingham reverse that one and we are above them

What is he now, 21/22, he’s still learning, and has all the attributes to be a top player. Also two footed which helps greatly. Dunkley by contrast has seriously struggled.
As for tonight’s game I do think we need at least a point. Given the fixtures I’m struggling to see where the points will come from. We really don’t want to be in a position where we’re reliant on 3pts against Millwall. Bolton at home aside, we’ve not stepped upto the plate, in these six-pointers. The other sides are showing signs of life home & away.
