It’s worse than Brexit our goalkeeper choice at the moment Walton in Jones out Jones in Walton out Walton in and Jones out, what I do know is Walton was a disgrace last night.
11 April 2019 at 11:19 am #177946It’s a dangerous game were playing relying on others and a game I can see backfiring for us.
I sat there at Hull near the end of a game not thinking a point will do it was more of a case of of when will Hull score. Attacking wise that’s as poor as I’ve see all season and as for Powell ??.
How the f**kin hell can we rely on a player he spends more time talking to the physio than his missus.
Cook has no plan, he has now resorted to blaming players for mistakes but, he has to take the blame for fielding a keeper who most fans felt wasnt playing well when before he was dropped. Why Cook brought him back is anyone’s guess.
I lost count how many times Byrne got into an attacking position we he could try and push it and run only to turn back and hit back to a defender. Here is a side who are either have no confidence what so ever or the manager is telling them not to. And as for Garner ?, It was like playing with 10 men he offered absolutely nothing.
The IEC took a massive gamble in keeping Cook, and getting rid of both Grigg and Vaughan a decision that has sadly backfired.I doubt Norwich will slip up Sunday like they did against Reading and I can’t see us getting anything against Leeds and Birmingham.
I still hark back to the sale of Powell last season. He should have gone, why Sharp or the IEC (whoever was calling the shots) allowed the club’s last biggest asset stay without signing an extension because (in the words of Powell) “I like it here” is totally unbelievable. He should have had a contract stuffed under his nose and without a signature sold and used the money in Jan to try and save the day or pay Cook off.We have 2 games for me, Preston and Millwall, anything less than 4 points against those 2 and were Cooked
Sorry for the pun but it’s never fitted a manager so well11 April 2019 at 2:08 pm #177953To put a positive spin on things:
1 – My expectation was to be beaten at Bristol and get a point last night
2 – We have three home games and just two away
3 – The outcome is still in our hands11 April 2019 at 3:54 pm #177958The guy on Sky referred to us as a young team. WTF?
11 April 2019 at 6:11 pm #177962Walton had a mare last night (& that’s putting it mildly) but those who are saying Jones was playing well & shouldn’t have been dropped are clearly forgetting the last game he played for us & the even worse gaff that cost us a goal
Walton hasn’t had a good season & whether that’s caused by having an error riddled defence operating in front of him or not I don’t know but I saw him play superbly against Premier league teams last season so I’m not having it that he’s turned into a bad keeper but you can clearly see that his confidence is shot to bits.
Jones on the other hand is what he is – a journeyman lower division keeper & it was clear that teams had sussed his major weakness was a lack of mobility which hindered his attempts at stopping long range shots coz all our opponents were trying it & having success with it11 April 2019 at 6:24 pm #177963Don’t think the goals at Blackburn were his fault TBH
11 April 2019 at 8:35 pm #177965Don’t think the goals at Blackburn were his fault TBHThe first one no coz it was a penalty.
The second one if I’m being ultra picky his body shape was all wrong & he didn’t close the angles down like modern keepers tend to (a la Peter Schmeichel style) but instead crouched down & exposed more of the goal for their player to hit – BUT the original error was Dunkley’s i think when he missed his clearance
He then spilled a simple shot identically to how Walton did for Hull’s equaliser last night only luckily for him the Blackburn player wasn’t as alert as Frazier Campbell was yesterday & he was able to get to the loose ball first
He then clearly didn’t communicate well enough (or at all) to Olsson to leave the ball as he was coming to collect it – hence why Olsson then tried to knock it back to him. He was as much at fault for that goal (if not more) as Olsson was & I think that’s why Walton was brought back in -
