From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!27 August 2011 at 7:08 pm #70527I have been one of Gomez biggest critics but I have to admit he was excellent today. His best match in a Latics shirt so far.
I also thought Di Santo was outstanding and Rodalegga did very well today.
A decent all round performance with no weak links today.27 August 2011 at 7:54 pm #70531No comment
27 August 2011 at 8:06 pm #70532maybee its because he played were he should be had a brill game
27 August 2011 at 8:35 pm #70536please, please, please watch football first tonight (match of the day will only show 5 mins at most)
gomez got caught in possession on 5 occasions one that led to a chance qpr should have scored from, he plays the ball backwards more than ray wilkins ever did and he is slower than a sloth – i have to admit he was better today than i have ever seen him play but he’s a championshp player at best, thankfully he wont play when the squad is at full strength.

I wish I could get my arris off this fence. Today was indeed a good display for the young man….creative and has vision. However, I have to agree with some of your observations – he was slow at times and will always back away from a tackle…….bl00dy frustrating that. I want him, so much, to do well but feel that he still needs to ‘grow’ into this league – a loan spell may do him the power of good. When he’s good he’s good when he’s bad he’s embarrassing.
Right………..back onto my fence it is then.
27 August 2011 at 8:59 pm #70543one of his passes was class today if a man u player had done it would show it time and time again

The comments of a man who is determined to find fault. Quelle surprise, as they say back in Spain.Rodallega gave the ball away twice under no pressure that I recall; on both occasions he got a round of applause all round for his effort.
27 August 2011 at 9:42 pm #70550Was LMB watching the same game as the other pundits who scored the players and the rest of us, or does he just have it in for the lad??

For once can you not give the lad credit were credits due instead of nit picking, the lad has put up with a lot of sh @t since he has arrived at wigan
27 August 2011 at 10:40 pm #70554I despair! If you over analyse every player nobody is perfect and everyone gave the ball away. Thought he linked our play well some good passes and a generally good performance much like everyone else. However he will never win them over. Worst shout near me when Fig gave the ball away – Gomez has taught him that !!
27 August 2011 at 10:50 pm #70555Bleedin ell Loudmouth.
No player can go through 90 minutes without making some mistakes. Like it or not , and you obviously don’t , he had a bloody good game today and deservedly got a standing ovation when he went off.
So unless the 15,000+ who clapped him off are wrong , then as JR says you’ve just got it in for the lad. :snooty:
28 August 2011 at 12:05 am #70562thought the lad had a cracking game today and he was not the only one, lopez and di santo had great games hopefully it will do the their confidence levels a world of good. A good team performance, onwards and upwards fellas.
28 August 2011 at 1:54 am #70570This is where LMB says he was only winding us up.
28 August 2011 at 2:30 am #70571As LMB said please three times, I thought it only fair that I watch Football First. Maybe the editing was as bad as MOTDs but I didn’t anywhere near five times that Gomez gave the ball away. Neither did they show that sublime first-time flick down the right hand side that I think someone else has referred to already.
They did show him retaining possession quite a lot and I counted three very good tackles that he made. There may have been more.
I also heard Davie Provan say that he had been creative and intelligent all afternoon. But WTF does an ex-pro know?
